How quickly are you losing the baby weight after birth?
« on: June 30, 2004, 10:08:53 AM »
I'm not losing it as quickly as I did with DS #1 and it's so frustrating sometimes.  Yes, I gained more weight with child #2 but jeez, this sucks.   I have 15 lbs to go and it seems like I am in a plateau.  Grr.

I know it's supposed to melt off and I have lost 40 lbs since birth (7 months ago) but I really wanna get in my pre preg clothes! >:(

You certainly don't want to hear, then, that I've never lost the "baby" weight from my last one... :-X

Terror in my heart! ;D  Thanks for the laugh, I needed it today.

I tried on some pre preg clothes (again) this AM and what a downer that is.  How was I ever that slim??

It's like my hips have permanently shifted outward.

They have.  Even if I lost all the baby weight I'd ever gained - I would never fit in a US size 5 pair of trousers again (and, yes, I did at one time many moons ago) simply for the reason that my hips are too wide now.

Same here. After my third baby was born 5 months ago I have noticed my hips are much wider than they were the previous two times. I've lost all the weight but will never fit into the jeans I wore before the pregnancy. Oh well...I used it as an excuse to buy new jeans!!  :) I've lost weight quickly this time because my son breastfeeds as if he's starving and I've also been strict about exercise. After the previous two pregnancies it took me a good 9 months to lose the weight. I've been told, "nine months up, nine months down" by my MIL, mother of 6. I gave away the pre-pregnancy jeans. They are history!

Best of luck! Hang in there.

Just doesn't seem fair.  I used to wear a US size 2 and now I'm probably and 8 just b/c of the butt and hips.  Dammit.

I adore my kids but c'mon, a whole wardrobe to charity post partum?  I hope not!

I sound superficial, I know.  I can't help it, I liked being slim. ;)

And the whole lot went to pot anyway with my hair not highlighted for months, my skin in need of about 35 proper facials, I could use some Botox since I've not had more that four hours continuous sleep for four years and counting...

How do the stars do it?  I saw photos of Nikki Taylor on the runway just 3 months after birthing twins and she had no evidence of it!  Kate Moss looks fantasic post baby...Gwyneth will be back to her ultra slim self in minutes.

it is? all the books I've been reading say it can months, even a year or two and they all say it depends on a lot of things like whether you are breast feeding.  Anyway what do I know I am in week 30 and I don't even know how much I (+ baby) weight right now cause the midwife dodn't weigh me at my last 2 check ups.  A work colleague told me she ate too much chocolate with her 2nd baby and never lost the weight (16 years later).

Yep the stars have their nannies and other help and besides I bet they don't look that great close up!

A lot of stars also do not gain enough weight during their pregnancy...witness the low birthweights of a lot of their babies.  Gwyneth and Kate Hudson excluded, most of these babies being born are barely at the minimum normal weight of 6 lbs.

And I still had a few extra pounds, but that was what I gained back.  It took me 9 months to lose the baby weight, and the last three months of that were pretty intense diet and everyday aerobics that I gave up as soon as the scale dropped, then I couldn't be bothered to take it back up again.  (Of course, if I'd had a nanny so I could exercise and sleep and a personal trainer and dietician, it might have happened a lot faster!)
I also gained 60 lbs. in that pregnancy, because I had an appetite you wouldn't believe...so it was hard for me to cut my eating back.  Whereas this time I hardly even want to eat.

Oh and they have personal chefs too who cook their meals and they never have to count a single calorie, carb or fat gram or worry about portion control. God that must be nice. :P

they probably have someone to eat the food for them too ... that's the real reason they don't gain weight

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who can't fit into any of my pre-pregnancy clothes.  Now I don't feel so bad, I just realy miss my clothes.   :\\\'(

I gained 60 pounds with the little poo monkey. I gave birth 13 weeks ago and have lost 30, with a sloooooow moving 30 to go. I am noticing however that even though the weight is coming off slowly, my body is still shifting and adjusting and changing... strange thing.
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!
