For those of us of a certain age, Michael Jackson truly was the soundtrack of our lives.
I remember being about eight-years-old, sitting in my friend's bedroom, listening to her 45 of 'Got To Be There.' I was also jealous of the MJ poster she was allowed to have on her bedroom door ... it was a few years before my parents gave in and let me put up posters.
I also remember having slumber parties at friend's houses and getting up on a Saturday morning to watch The Jackson 5ive cartoon show while eating numerous bowls of Fruit Loops.
Then, much later, I was at university sitting around with friends watching the Motown 25th anniversary show on TV. We'd all sort of forgotten about Michael until that moment, but we were all completely fixated. He was a marvel and nobody had seen anything like him.
And I have a slightly drunken memory of dancing around with friends on an abandoned dance floor once while singing 'Beat It' at the tops of our lungs!
Which brings us to this year ... and my excitement about scoring tickets to see him in London.
