1. No. Or rather, it won't make a difference I believe. Only your finances and that of your husband will be considered. As far as I understand it, no third-party financial support.

2. See above.

3. See above.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

Why, do we look young?  :D

My husband is 29 and I am 25.

Why do you ask?

He was probably making sure you wouldn't get tripped up by the Over-21 requirement.

This is where I get confused because I could have sworn I read a post somewhere where someone said a co-sponsor is allowed.

I just searched and seen it does say co-sponsors allowed. I won't name the person, but they said this...

"Finances.  Yes, it does not take rocket science to see that the application is vulnerable to refusal on finances.  The courier has suggested a co-sponsor.  It's a workable strategy given that finances *can* be a show-stopper."

So what's the deal - is it allowed or not?

If I looked under 21 - thanks!

Can anyone fill me in on what the Financial Test is???

If we are over the 100.95/per week requirement, is there anything to worry about? What else do they look at in regards to finances?

Mort's back!

Yay!  We've missed you!
On s'envolera du même quai
Les yeux dans les mêmes reflets,
Pour cette vie et celle d'après
Tu seras mon unique projet.

Je t'aimais, je t'aime, et je t'aimerai.

This isn't "name and shame" forum here. If you provide the link to the thread, it'll help us reconcile the discrepancy. It's not like the author of that post is gonna be held up to ridicule. Promise!

Without reading the thread which you're quoting, I can't really comment if it's bad advice or just out of date, but unless something's changed in the past two months, third-party support is disallowed. It wasn't always (I know, I used it when I applied) but it is now.

P.S. Awww, you guys are the sweetest. I'm glad to be back. :)  :-*

Many thanks, Meg.

First things first.  Character refs are required for nationality and that's that.  The notion that character references can be useful for entry clearance within the family formation programme is absurd.  I would have laughed in her face, it's the only right thing to do.

Overstay.  We have been through this before.   >:(  How many times?  I'm surprised more people didn't pick up on this immediately.  And just how does an attorney "clear the matter"?  Talk to god?

Finances.  Yes, it does not take rocket science to see that the application is vulnerable to refusal on finances.  The courier has suggested a co-sponsor.  It's a workable strategy given that finances *can* be a show-stopper.

So in this particular email, the courier is batting 1 out of 3.  Not the world's best I would venture to say.  Character references.  What a hoot.

Moving right along...

NHS card.   ::)  So as to better rub their noses in the fact that our country's health services were abused?  That should get them on your side.  NOT.   Lose it.  A dinner menu   ::)  To prove what?  A balanced diet?  Expertise in Photoshop?  Lose it.

Anyway.  Thanks for the heads-up, Meg.  This one's booked...

There you go :)

Third party support isn't allowed.  If you wish to contact Garry to ask what he meant by "a workable strategy," then I suggest you do so via PM.

Sorry, but you are incorrect here.  The budget should be done before food and entertainment.

Maybe Garry was thinking that she is applying for a fiance visa, in which case a co sponsor would be allowed.  But she is going for the spousal visa and from what I understand, it is not allowed.

Hi - I know my letter before was WAY too long. I re-wrote one and tryed to focus on the solid facts and to the point, is it ok now or still too long?

Dear Sir/Madam,

My application includes an Immigration Refusal which happened on May 11, 2009. This was due to a previous overstay.

I visited the United Kingdom in September 2004 on a 6 Month Visitor Visa. The purpose of my trip was marriage. During this time, I sought advice from an Immigration Lawyer about settling in the United Kingdom. I was advised that I could obtain Settlement while in the United Kingdom. My lawyer at the time dealt with my case for a long period. Eventually, through my family's research, I became aware that it was not possible to obtain Settlement while in the United Kingdom. I was advised wrong through this Lawyer and I made plans to return to the United States in order to apply with the proper procedures.

I returned to the United States on October 17, 2008 due to my father being ill. He passed away 7 days after my arrival. I had no intentions of applying for my Visa during this time. In the middle of the stress and confusion, I lost my passport. I applied for a new passport and returned to the United Kingdom on November 17, 2009. I was stamped with a 6 Month Visitor Visa. During this time, I pulled myself together after my father's death and made plans to return to the United States on May 1, 2009.

I returned to the United States on May 1, 2009. I started doing research on how to apply for a UK Spouse Visa and started collecting the proper documents. I did not know until I did further research that the Visa process could take up to 3 months. I booked a ticket for May 11, 2009 to return to the United Kingdom as I needed to pick up a few personal belongings.

Upon my arrival at Heathrow Airport, London, I was denied entry because the Immigration Officer was not satisfied that I was only trying to enter as a Visitor to pick up some belongings. He requested to see my marriage certificate, which I did not have with me. He then refused me entry because he did not believe my intentions were genuine and did not believe I was married.

I would like to include that during my Overstay period in the United Kingdom, I did not seek employment or work at all, I did not use the NHS or otherwise rely on public funds for support, and I lived with my husband the entire stay in a non-council residence. With that said, I would like to include that I did get my Provisional Driving License during this time.

During my recent 6 Month Visitor Visa, I opened a Barclays Bank Account, and registered with a GP. I also passed my Life in the UK Test.

I would like to apologize for this Overstay and hope this letter serves to clarify the reasons why it happened.

Thank you
