If anyone needs a passport stamp

Instead of channel hopping Ryanair is having a £1 sale.
 http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/
Just read all the small print and don't forget to do the non EU passport check.

Of course read the small print, and then rapidly conclude that they are having nothing like a £1 sale! What about the compulsory taxes, and the compulsory £5 online check-in fee?

Yes it is cheap, but they are not really having a £1 sale at all.

Passenger handling fees, luggage charges, check in fees, airport taxes, boarding fees.....These aren't even the hidden costs.   :o

Actually, they are having a one pound sale.  No catches as long as you are canny.

If you check in on-line, have no hold baggage, have only one carry-on item, don't buy insurance, don't ask for text notification of alterations to the flight, don't want to get priority boarding, and pay by RyanAir's own charge card or visa electron, it is indeed only £1.

There is no compulsory check in fee. And for tickets booked on certain £1 flights there are no airport taxes.  I just booked Chris flights from Luton to Knock for £1 each way.

Yup, a work colleague booked a £1.00 tickets to Paris and the only 'extra' he paid was a £10.00 charge for using Switch.

You will never catch me defending Ryanair, and I was complaining about them to a guy on my 12 euro flight (it would have been 2 euro, but we had to use a Maestro card to book) from Dublin to Bristol when he pointed something out to me. He actually likes how they do their pricing because you only pay for what you want to use. You don't pay for services you don't want. I thought that was a good point.

Strange, and I have to say, not my experience. I tried to make a booking this morning, and ended up being quoted a total of about £30 per seat, each way. Seats not booked.

It only applies to seats that are 1.00 I think.  Even if other seats are on sale you still need to pay the taxes.

I just went on and found plenty that were 1.00 only, but no return flights that would be useful.

You also need to make sure you're selecting that you don't want certain things, like travel insurance (unless you do, of course).

There is no compulsory check in fee.

I guess they are only waiving the check in fee for the 1 pound flights as well? Because we booked a flight the other day, and you have no choice but to do online check-in, and it was 5 pounds per person.

I'll be interested to see what the 1 pound deals are, but can't even get on the site!

Last time I flew RyanAir (last July), holders of non-EU passports were required to pay an additional check-in fee...that might explain some of the cost differences seen here, if that is indeed still the case.

Yeah, I remember that policy as well, but it seems that they have moved away from that to now charging everyone a 5 pound online check-in fee. Online check-in being the only option.

They now make everyone check in online, but if you're an non-EU passport holder you have to go to the desk and have your boarding pass stamped showing that they confirmed your passport details.  You still can't go straight to the gate. In Dublin, this system worked pretty well. In Bristol, not so much.
