Farewell, Frank McCourt

Frank McCourt died yesterday, aged 78.  I loved how he could find humour in the most harrowing of subjects, and how he could find humanity in people others might dismiss as vile.  I was just thinking an hour or two ago (before I heard of his death) about when I read Angela's Ashes, and I couldn't put it down.  It kept me up all night, so I drove to an all night doughnut shop to read it and drink coffee.  Not that big of a deal normally, but this was Buffalo at 3 a.m. (just moved there and had no coffee maker).

I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in Arts, so please move if it's not the right spot.

ya we  read it back in the day  for a  book club.. It definitely  'stayed' with me  even after all these years..  Angela's Ashes  was  disturbing to read but  a real  conversation starter..  he will be missed

Yeah, I heard he was sick on Friday, so this wasn't wholly unexpected but still very sad.  The passing of a great author...
