IA My new job is a little dressier than the old pairs of jeans and game t-shirts that I wore at my last place which is kinda difficult as I'm rapidly dropping sizes and my wardrobe is a bit all over the place.
Nothing from my really old job at the bank fits anymore (too huge and I got rid of most of it) and I don't have much suitable from the intervening years.

UP Lots of cheap clothes in the sale at the moment which will do as a stop gap.

IA Bought a great pair of grey wool trousers from ASOS which were delivered today in a smaller size but they need to be returned...

UP because they're totally huge! They literally fell off me so I need to return them for an even smaller size (maybe two!) :)

Woo! Sounds like the UPs outweigh the IAs. :)

Mine:
IA: Had nothing to do at work today, as I haven't been given a machine yet. Also had to faff about getting my e-mail address spelling corrected...sometimes I hate having a weird name.

UP: Everyone at work (the few people who were there) were lovely, and I get to be paid to hang out and chat with people! (For today, anyway.)

IA: My family are all total nutjobs. And self-involved.

UP: They're nice, in their way, and we had a pretty nice meal. And I got to meet two family members I'd never met before, as they live in LA and I've only been there once.

IA: I have to leave my family today... :( I already said goodbye to my dad before work, and proceeded to cry for a good half hour. All that's left is my mom, who is also my best friend.  :\\\'(

UP: I convinced them to let me pay for their passports for Christmas, as they've never had them. We submitted and paid yesterday, so at least I have that peace of mind now. One day they'll be able to come to me, too.
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

IA: The Blizzard of 2010 that hit last Sunday/Monday and has screwed up all manner of transportation, We had 17.5" in our town.

UP: I'm on Winter Recess this week so could stay curled up on the sofa with a warm quilt and a warm cat -- and read, catch up on knitting, watch old Dr. Who shows, etc.  ;D

IA: The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts has decreed that all property owners are responsible for clearing the sidewalks in front of their businesses or homes. You can now be sued if someone breaks a leg or something because you hadn't taken adequate action. (Headline on the Boston Herald: the judges themselves are guilty of not clearing in front of their own homes!!)

UP: My Fiance and I have United miles to use up before June so we're looking at taking a vacation!
IA: I want to go somewhere warm and tropical and we can't afford the few tropical places they do go. And they don't seem to fly between European cities.
UP: If we wind up going to NY I can finally get a pair of Fleuvogs! Chris got a pair in SF but I couldn't justify the expense and I've been kicking myself since but there's a store in NY :D

UP: My sister is a high school teacher and has been begging me for a few days to come into the school, so I gave in and she's arranged for me to go into the school and talk all about what a great career engineering is, why kids should go into math and science and engineering, etc. Fantastic! I absolutely love being an engineer, so I want to sing its praises to everyone!! Plus its the duty of a Chartered Engineer to promote engineering and science careers and since I'm putting in my CEng application in January, all good stuff.

IA: I've got to pull together a presentation and I have a few of those things already done on my work computer. Which is of course, sitting in Scotland.  And so now I need to pull something together out of thin air.  I don't want death by powerpoint, but I need to make it interesting as well... Hmmmm....
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

UP:  At home now after a couple of weeks spent traveling - at DH's parents for Christmas & then we had a cottage at the North York Moors over New Years.  It's nice to be home.

IA:  Back to work tomorrow.  :(

UP:  We both took an extra day (today) off, so we didn't have to go back to work today.

IA:  Back to work tomorrow.  :\\\'(

IA:  It has taken nearly 3 (or more) days of pleading, nagging, whining, arguing, and many other ways of manipulation to get dh to take even a tiny bit of the nyquil I brought back from the States.  After drinking the smallest amount possible he swore he was never taking any ever again.

UP:  We might get a full night's sleep for the first time since before Christmas as it seems to have helped quiet his cough.

LOL, sounds like my husband.  He could break an arm and would fuss about taking a painkiller.  I hounded him for ages to take cold medicine during his last cold before he finally gave in.  Miraculously it worked, he sounded so amazed  ::)  Tonight he called before I left work and asked me to bring him some home tonight as he's sniffly.  :P

I'm so jealous.  Mine still is denying the healing power of meds.  Ugh.

IA: The US embassy called my husband today to find out why he didn't show up for his appointment. Uh...that's because we didn't know it was scheduled for today! They said they sent a letter, but we never received it.

UP: We couldn't find the number to call and schedule the appointment, so he had sent an email yesterday. No one ever responded, so we were glad that they called us!

and even more of a UP...his interview is now scheduled for Monday at 1pm!  ;D

IA. We had to call a heating guy cause we couldn't get the boiler to work after we finally got our heating oil this afternoon!!

UP. The Heating guy was really nice, friendly, Professional, does quality work as well he even asked if he could have our Siamese cat lol. we get asked that alot lol!!  ;)  :)

IA. We had a new boiler put in about 4 years ago by a different company than the heating guy we use now. the old other company did a cowboy job on our boiler pipe fitting which was news to us but the heating guy said it was shoddy work.  >:(  ::)  we ended up  having to have a new pipe put on our boiler cause when Dh was trying to bleed the boiler he somehow split the pipe but the heating guy said it wasn't actually Dh's fault though. the heating guy said he is surprised the pipe lasted as long as it has cause it was some really bad shoddy work but the previous people.  >:(  [smiley=beadyeyes.gif]

UP. Dh came home early from work!!

IA. I had to call Dh at work cause the house smelled of oil & I had a really bad headache cause of it is why he got off work early. I can think of better reasons for Dh to get off work early than that but it couldn't be helped though.

UP. The heating guy who we called we have used him before when our water pipe burst over this past Easter weekend. he came out tonight an an didn't charge us a call out fee & he didn't charge us a crazy stupid amount either thankfully!!  ;)  :) he bled our boiler & fixed our pipe for £65 all total he was here for over an hour as well but we gave him £70 he is such a nice man ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] an doesn't take you for a ride like some people do!!

IA. We found out we lost about £30 worth of oil from the outside leak the bad pipe & the leak inside the boiler grrr!!  >:(  [smiley=furious3.gif]

UP. We have a warm house at last Yeah!! ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

IA: I hate packing/moving, and don't want to do it anymore.

UP: I'm down to the last small bits and bobs to pack, and by this time tomorrow (ideally far earlier), I should be all done. Yay!
