IA: It was so cold today, I stuck the central heat on for the first time this season.  It's not particularly cold out, but I am freezing.  I was hoping to hold on until November, preferably mid-month before turning it on.

UP: I am warm and toasty now and so is the cat.

IA: Here it is mid-October and there is still more greenery around than autumnal colours. Some trees have gone brownish or yellow. Only a few spates of orange or red.

UP: Haven't had to turn on the heat yet. Hoping to get to the end of the month.

Bit of the same of the last two for me:

IA: We've had to turn the heat on a few times already, despite wanting to wait 'tough it out' for a few more weeks, because of damp, but the UP of it is being nice and toasty instead of bundling up like we did last year because even though it isn't horribly cold outside it is cool inside.

Other IA: The trees seem to be more brownish yellow than pretty in town this year, but the UP is I can peek in on the trees back home because the local (10 mins from mom's and also 10 mins in the other direction from where I grew up) amusement/water park has two cams, one for the water park area and one 'construction cam' for anyone wishing to watch construction of their new water coaster. Both cams show lots of trees.

Focus on the UP part of it!  ;D The last few weeks of anticipation and planning what you will do during the visit are so agonizingly wonderful because you have the countdown to pure happiness.

In a similar vein, we leave for the US in 4 weeks! And my birthday is 4 weeks from tomorrow, too.

Which means I have to figure out what I want so I can tell family, who's bugging me about birthday gifts. ("Big" 3-0, woo.)

Happy (early) Birthday, Equestrianerd!

TamaMoo, I know exactly what you mean. It's also agonizingly wonderful because it's going to be one of the last LDR trips (but if had it my way it would be the last).

UP:  I'll be getting a pay raise this month (not really unexpected, but I got a letter confirming it yesterday).

IA:  It's only 15p.  ::)  At least I now make over £6 an hour.

Yes I am worth sooo much more than that.  >:(

Thanks! Kind of wish it wasn't such a big one - I like birthdays well enough, but am not really a big bang celebration kind of person, and my mom's planning a bigger/bang-ier thing than I'd normally go for. Should be fun, though. :)

Happy early birthday!  [smiley=balloon.gif] [smiley=juggle.gif] Moms still think of us as their kids when it comes to birthdays. I'm happier in the background than the spotlight, but I figure one day of the year I can cope. I've been here my last two birthdays and I actually found myself missing a bit of the 'to do'.

Wasn't weighed when I went to have blood drawn this morning. I've been trying to lose weight, so it would have been nice to know if I have, but it saved me from potential disappointment as well!

UP: Not so unexpected, but certainly a pleasure to have great parents and great friends who you can talk to about anything.

IA: Having those same people be so far away.  :(

Ooops, apparently my co-workers are all noticing my depression and grumpy mood - I'm normally very happy-go-lucky- and they're all calling and checking on me to make sure I'm ok
WTF is up with me  ???

I bet it is just hormones.  Some months they can really hit you worse than other months.  When I'm feeling like this with no good reason I think, "Where am I in my cycle?"  That's when I realize the connection.  And the good thing is it always passes.
