UP- I am going to start my own jewelry business. I'm fed up with with the job market dictating how and when I'm going to make money. So, I am investing what I have left and going for it.  Wish me luck!

Good luck with that!  I'm doing the same and started a FB page to see if enough interest can be drummed up.   ;)

IA: I can't leave the dang thing alone. Every year I jump up every 15 or so minutes to tweak or adjust it in the first couple days, then at least once an hour for the rest of the season. I can't stand having too many of one thing (Santas, snowmen, stars, gingerbread men, M&Ms etc) or too much of one colour grouped together. Between that and thinking a spot might be too bare or too crowded, I am forever moving things.  ::) Still, even though it frustrates me I can't just leave it as is, I get the benefit of it being just a little different all season.

I love this!  I can just picture you putting the tree up with your hot chocolate (w/ a candy cane in it).. and now adjusting it over and over again for the next few weeks.  I envy you.  I hate putting the tree up.  I like seeing it once it's done.  But, I have no traditions that go with putting up the tree.  Maybe I need to make some new traditions.

Hubby spends all of December asking 'What are you doing now?'  ;D I've always loved Christmas and decorating, but it seems I enjoy it more every year.

UP: Was going through some of my old posts looking for a random recipe thread or post that I vaguely recalled. In the process I read through some of my posts from when I first moved over. They gave me the warm fuzzies, recalling that time, so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed was I!  :D

IA: It made me really, really, really wish that I could just go back to uni and do another master's or a PhD. Ugh. I miss it so much!  :(

IA: The cut on our dog's paw looked quite a bit worse and swollen yesterday. Fortunately we had an appointment with the vet for it today anyway, but it appears that it is most definitely infected.  :-\\\\ He's on 2 weeks of antibiotics which cost £65. As if I didn't feel bad enough about the poor dog, and a bit guilty about not bringing him in sooner, my wallet hurts now too!

UP: At least the dog isn't bothered by it at all. Still running around and happy, not favoring it or licking it or anything.  :)

IA: I'm trying to write an urgent report and its tedious and yet very stressful, I'm pulling information from everywhere and it sucks

UP: I'm listening to 'Muppet's Christmas Radio' and its making me giggle  ;D Makes it a bit easier

Muppets Christmas makes everything better! :) I have friends who used to listen to Muppets Christmas CDs with their mom while baking Christmas cookies. Now, as adults they still listen to them, in their own homes, while baking Christmas cookies. Sweet tradition. :)

Sigh.

UP: My interview went well, and "feedback was positive". They liked me, and they liked my work.

IA: Apparently the way I work is "in a different style" to what they're used to, so now I have to complete a test to prove that I know what I'm doing. And, if I do well on that, they'll (probably?) offer me the job.

I hate tests.

You would think "in a different style" would be a good thing, showing you have a better chance of being creative instead of doing everything the same ol way, increasing the chances of being a positive impact on the company.

Yeah, unfortunately with computer programming, doing it a different way isn't always a good thing. ;) (Not that either way is bad, per se, but if you're used to one thing swapping to something else can be a challenge.)

I'm still not sure how this test proves whether I can handle their way of doing things, but at least I did well. :)

Follow-up IA is that I still haven't heard back! Grump.

True. You might be adding all sorts of interesting things to their programs.  ;D

IA- Still don't have my car from the shop and it's going to cost us over £550 now.  :-\\\\

UP: My work gave me a work vehicle that I can hold on to till January! (yay!) And after a long time, actually got an invite from some ladies to go out for a girls night tonight! I'm excited!

UP: a friend threw me some online work!

IA: I'm rewriting product descriptions so that google doesn't throw pages out for having the same text but it's 40 pages of the same product with combinations of features A, B or C and there aren't enough adjectives in the world to make each iteration of A or B or C different, let alone the underlying product that doesn't change. It's taking a lot longer than anticipated and it isn't particularly fun. #headdesk
