Our landlord just told us that they intend to move into our flat at the end of our one-year lease. We really didn't see that one coming. And even though our budget is slightly higher than last year, I'm not seeing anything I like.

But:

As the temperature has dropped in the last few days, the condensation has really started again (we live in an old 1930s apartment block with large metal framed windows), and I don't think I could deal with another winter in this place. Moving might not be so bad afterall.

UP- DH has been offered, and has accepted, a job in London.   :D
IA- I was able to start my new part time job (seems like all I do is post about it, sorry) since DH was working from home as a consultant.  Well, we found out a few weeks ago that the contract is going to be ending sooner than we thought.  About that time the interview in London popped up.  Anyway, DH has been able to take our 8 year old to her RDA lesson since it conflicts with my work.  Now I will have to ask my in-laws if they can take her. It is about a 30-40 minute drive from here...while they are willing to do it FIL is due to have his hip replaced soon.  Our 8 year old really looks forward to her weekly ride.  This also means that if one of the girls is sick I'll have to ask the in-laws to look after them while I work.   I'm sure they will gladly, but I don't like having to ask them.

UP:  I was at the supermarket and was feeling around in my pockets for change.  I randomly reached into my back pocket just to check if there were any receipts that I might have shoved in there during the course of the day.  What I felt in there was some money.  I thought "Oh!  I'm in the UK now which means this is at least a fiver!  I love surprise money that I forgot about!"

IA: When I took out the bunched up bank note, I discovered that it was $1 bill.  :( Must have not worn these jeans in a while!

Congrats!

I was bored so I decided to bake a cake.

The UP is that I get a yummy slice of cake before bed, and can have some for breakfast.
The IA is that my newfound interest in baking has taken over my interest in weight loss. Oops!

cg, what a disappointment!

Mine: I've been desperately seeking a roommate since I'm still relying on my ex's payments to help me make ends meet. I had my choice of roommates last month, but the girl flaked out and left me hanging. I didn't have much interest at all this month (only 2 people in 15 days). I decided to up the price and put "utilities included" in the price. Well, now I have loads of responses again and am starting to feel hopeful about getting a roommate, when I was feeling defeated a few days ago!

Good luck Belita!  I hope you find somebody nice.

I didn't get the job I interviewed for, and I'm surprisingly okay with it. There were aspects of the position that were really interesting and I would have done well, and there were aspects that scared the heck out of me!

Working with DH... it's both a IA and a UP. (Well, usually more of a UP)

Today, my supervisor gave me grief over my dental appointment, but we sort of worked it out. DH sends my supervisor an email (after we have already worked it out) giving him a hard time for giving me a hard time. Sweet that he is trying to come to my rescue, but not great considering I already worked things out on my own, so he didn't need to. I'm afraid it is going to make the situation a much bigger deal than it needed to be. Oh well, too late now, will just have to see what happens! LOL.

I have someone who said they'll take my room for rent, but he's a guy and he wants month to month. I need a warm body that will not harm me, so I think I'll take it.

Dont forget, there are still some RBS £1 banknotes floating around out there!  I've got 3 of them in my purse right now...

I'd have been raging.

I actually had a friend tell me about those the other day.  I'm glad he did, because otherwise if someone tried to hand me one of those, I would have thought it was a joke! :D
