UP:  Had an appointment with her replacement today to start work on replacing a crown (an IA in itself  :-\\\\) and from the moment I met her I was sold on her!  She's thorough and detail oriented and glows with an inner beauty.  Plus she's got a super portfolio of all the cosmetic work she's done and it all looks fantastic (I've got a bit of cosmetic dentistry in my future....)  :)

I'll probably be asking for her name and phone in a few months, Andee. I was supposed to have had another cleaning but had to cancel as it was the same day my stitches came out. When I tried to reschedule they didn't have another hygienist appointment until March! So I may as well wait  :-\\\\

UP: Have to go back to Boston for that same job, for two more days.

IA: Have to go back to Boston for that same, job, for two more days. It's additional "training" but I haven't gotten the job yet, which is kind of annoying.

IA: I have to pay for another trip. I'd love to be able to take Amtrak again, it was lovely. But Greyhound is $18 round trip and Amtrak is $140 so I really can't justify it at the moment.

UP: Found a very well located, lovely looking Air BnB place to stay for only $50/night.

Absolutely!  As long as you don't mind travelling from Headingley (just a quick bus ride away).

Peter Pan claims to have $1.00 fares -- in connection with Greyhound. Just don't go Fung Wah  :P

ETA: and good luck with the job!

UP: It is supposed to be in the mid 60s Friday and Saturday. If I can't have snow, it might as well be warm.

IA: I really want snow.

Thanks everyone! I waited a day and they went up to $22. But still a lot cheaper than the alternatives, even MegaBus or BoltBus. I booked the buses that claim they come with wifi so hopefully that'll make it more bearable. I really do hope I get this job after jumping through all of these hoops. *sigh*

Hooray for your snow! We have a chance for some tomorrow, so fingers crossed!  ;D

IA: Just before Christmas I had a woman screaming and swearing at me (at work) over  a phone card she bought and swore she didn't get. Not only did she come in the store twice, then call, her husband called and swore at me over it, then in a conference call with the phone card company, she swore at me some more. I wasn't the one who sold her the card, and wasn't even in the building at the time it was sold.

It was discovered that the card had, in fact, been used on her phone. Verizon verified it. So, she bought the card, temporarily misplaced it, had a tantrum, found it and used it. She has been in a few times since, and has neither apologized nor attempted to make up for it with a kind word.

UP: It is fun to watch her squirm if I am the one who has to wait on her. All of it could go away with an apology, and then she might feel more comfortable, but she chooses to silently be nervous when she is in. She has even gone so far as to make her son (about 6 or 7) hand me the money and take the change. I have better things to do with my life than hold a grudge, and since it was right at Christmas I was determined to not let it get to me and ruin my festive mood. Still, a simple apology would have been nice, but it is affecting her more than me because she is uncomfortable.

IA: I noticed when I got into Boston on Wednesday night (where there was snow on the ground and cold temps forecasted) that my decent looking black, flat boots were coming apart from the sole. I had planned to wear them a lot.

UP: Luckily, I overpacked and threw in a pair of sneakers to my bag at the last minute. Not ideal, since they're canvas, but a better option than flimsy ballet flats or heeled boots, which was all I had otherwise.

UP: The boots are from LL Bean! So I can return them, even though they were originally a Christmas '08 present. I actually haven't worn them a ton so even though they're 4 years old, they shouldn't be falling apart. Yay for keeping all emails and having a shipping confirmation (with order number and product number) handy.

Yeah, Bean's are great about returning stuff for a refund. DS returned one of those rain jacket/fleece jacket combos that he had bought in high school. He'd worn it a lot but the rain part was getting less waterproof and he had slobbered tooth paste or something on the fleece. No receipt of course. But they took it back and gave him nearly what he'd paid as a credit  :D

IA:  My manager texted me this morning and said no way could she make it into work (ice, snow, no bus, etc.).  This was supposed to be my day off *and* I had a hair appointment scheduled for today as well.  ::)

UP:  It was an easy non-stressy day and it went by quickly.  Plus (not unexpected) more money for me at the end of the month.

IA:  The 'a' string on my newly refurbished fiddle broke the other day.

UP:  I was able to easily replace it with the 'a' string from my other fiddle.  But I still need an 'a' string, so I went back to Hoboblin today on my day off....

IA:  They didn't have a single 'a' string to sell me! (Plenty of 'G', 'd', and 'e' strings though!)

UP:  Finally, the manager found one and when she heard that I only had my fiddle a couple weeks before the 'a' string broke, she gave it to me for free!

IA: The baby shower for my brother's girlfriend is this Sunday. I ordered the gift last week and the UPS tracking showed that it had been transferred to USPS and that USPS had delivered it this past Saturday. I have not received it. I call UPS first since they started with the package and say 'I checked the tracking and it says it was delivered but I never received it, can you tell me what happened?' The customer service rep replies 'Well, it says here it was delivered.'.  ::) Thank you, thank you that was so helpful for me to have you look at the same tracking page and tell me what I already know.

UP: I called USPS next since they were the ones who supposedly delivered it, fully expecting it to be like pulling teeth. They opened an investigation immediately, said they'd get back to me in one business day and that was that. Took 5 minutes. Thank goodness cause I was teetering on foul mood territory this morning!  :P

Now just hoping it gets found!
