UP: A friend of mine from Canada will be in London next week
IA: I don't think I'll be able to go meet her - hope she can make it up North!

IA: My hair appointment ended up being MUCH more expensive than I thought it was going to be.  :-\\\\

UP: When I told DH he seemed relieved it was even MORE expensive.

IA:  Been battling a sore throat & stuffy nose.  No idea if it's cold or allergy, but 24-hour Zyrtec wasn't touching it - in fact, yesterday it seemed to make me feel worse!  And I slept like rubbish last night...

UP:  So I called in sick for work today!  ;D  I've not been off sick in a year, so I think I was overdue.  ;)  So far, I've had quite the productive day & it's only 11 am:  did some food shopping, supper in the crockpot, put some laundry in, and then cleaned the bathroom & wiped some mold spots off a wall - on the chance that my dirty house might have been making me sick.  (Although I actually felt worse at work yesterday - stuffier, a bit dizzy, etc - than I've felt at home.)  Now looking forward to a nap, or a long hot Lush bath, or maybe both - for the afternoon!

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Empty Nest: DS leaves for NYC today so beginning to feel desolate.  :(

IA: I'll have no one to talk to except the cat!
UP: Yay! Only the cat to clean up after.

IA: He got me Honey, Carrot, and Coriander soup which makes me want to go [smiley=puke.gif]

UP: He went out to get me something else!  ;D

UP:  After months of the contract market being so very very quiet, I now have interviews galore!

IA:  This means that my time as a lady of leisure is coming to an end.   :(

UP: Well, not UP because I bought it for myself, but I got my fave period drama in the post the other day.

IA: I stayed up almost all night watching it and did not get nearly enough sleep.

The period drama?  It's The Buccaneers based on the half-finished book by Edith Wharton.  I loved it from the first time I saw it and I read the book.  Now I find that I used to watch it all the time ironic as it's about American women marrying British men. :p

I've never seen it but it sounds like something I'd like.  Yay! Something to put on my Lovefilm list!

IA: I wore my wiggle dress today that makes me feel like Joan in Mad Men (actually, the one in my profile pic), and my Wolford fishnets and the black "secretary shoes" (brogue styled shoe-boot heels). And even though the shoes are very comfortable and very broken in, the fishnets in them ate 4 blisters into my feet on my half hour walk into work.

UP: I hobbled down the high street at lunchtime to buy a cheap pair of shoes so I could walk home, and on the way, some trendy guy on a cycle asked me for directions and then told me his friend was a designer and "she'd totally love your look". :D That made me happy, and then at the cheap shoe shop I found a cute pair of turquoise flats that are ACTUALLY LEATHER (this shop reeks of plastic shoes when you walk in) for a tenner. So I only wanted something to get me home, but I ended up with something nice.

They don't go with the dress though, but I'll live!

Cool shoes! My podiatrist keeps telling me to wear heels though (?)
