UP: I'm off from work until the 16th and have time to clean and re-organize my wardrobe.

IA: Having to listen to the in-laws complain about everything under the sun. Why does everything have to be complained about?! It rains in the UK, but life goes on perfectly well, the sparrows are fighting, but, that's what birds do, yes, there's a car parked in front of the neighbour's house, but, DH didn't drive today, so it's ok, and who cares what way the wind is blowing?????!!!!!! ::)

UP: Watched Glee recorded from last night. :D

*hijack-PB, I like Irn Bru too! :D don't know about haggis yet, though!*

UP: Went to closing ceremonies for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer "In it to End it" yesterday. My cousin's daughter and some friends from high school were doing it in honor of our Em, so it was a great family solidarity thing. Beautiful weather, very upbeat positive atmosphere.

Oh BD what a lovely gesture by her friends, but so sad that they had to do it.

Best wishes for you and yours x

IA: A long weekend in Barcelona for a friend's wedding became a proper week-long vacation due to the ash cloud. Fortunately, I had the foresight to ask a friend to take a set of keys in case we weren't back so she could check on the cat. I was really worried about the cat, which brought on a cold sore.

UP: A group of us went to a seaside town about an hour and a half outside of Barcelona and it was absolutely gorgeous. We had lunch in a restaurant that was in the middle of a national park, on the top of a huge hill. It was just breathtaking!

A bit of a strange one...

UP:  Just saw a neighbour that I've not seen in months.  She's friendly enough but she had me babysit her daughter once for her a couple years ago, and she really ended up taking the p*ss on that deal, so...  She has struggled raising her daughter alone - daughter turning 10 years old this weekend.

IA (not really to me - just more of a wow!):  Said neighbour is now 3 weeks away from giving birth to a second daughter, and the daddy (not the same daddy) has apparently done a runner on this one too.  I had no idea she was pregnant at all!  :o

I wish her well, but I would hope she might have learned that being a single parent isn't probably the easiest or most ideal (money is tight, no support, etc), after her experiences of the past 10 years.  I mean enough to take some precautions in a relationship that didn't sound like it was very committed, IYKWIM?  Guess not!?  I don't have any kids though - what do I know?

 ???

She didn't seem too fazed by it all, so I guess she'll be okay - older daughter can babysit, I reckon!

IA: It's been so lovely out but I just checked and the weather is going to turn crap again this week.  It's so fleeting! :(

UP: I'll be flying back to NJ on Tuesday (almighty volcano willing of course) and can delay the change back to chilly-ish weather a little bit since the weather is supposed to be great while I'm there!  :)

IA: The pico de gallo I made from scratch was way too spicy- even for my boy.

UP: Said boy just booked us a B&B near Sequoia National Park for Tuesday and there's a hot tub in a ring of sequoia trees!  [smiley=love.gif]

IA: Last week I was supposed to have my eye exam & new contacts but had to cancel due to my husbands work schedule so I had it rescheduled for yesterday. Right before my appointment I got a call on my mobile from ADSA cancelling my appointment. So I had to call back & reschedule for next Sunday. I've not been able to see properly for 2 months now  :\\\'(

UP: The bloke I spoke to is giving me a trial pair at my old prescription power until my appointment so I can see properly...finally! My husband is picking them up on his way home today  :D.

IA- I found nits in the 6 year old's hair last night.  She was hysterical for at least an hour.  I did the wet combing and found only about 10 eggs, treated, and then wet combed again.  I freaked out after she went to bed as it really bothers me.  I didn't get any sleep last night worrying about it.  This is the first time I have had to deal with this, and I really hope it will be the last.
UP-I was doing the 'tell the Mums that your child has played with' phone calls.  My dear friend put my mind at ease and was able to calm me down.  So far only the 6 year old has them, I've cleaned everything in the house that can be cleaned.

Could you talk to your supervisor about what you'd like in an internship and how you can secure a good one?

UP: A postcard from friends in Panama

IA: A thank you card from the niece. I know this is forced upon her by SIL and I don't like it. It seems formal and well, formal. Not from the heart, but a burden. I hope she liked the present anyway.
