Jewlz, I'll bet they all want to hire you!  It's great to be in demand.  :)

Any way that you could do a bit of both (if you get offered one of the other jobs) - I mean take the full time gig, but maybe do a few shifts at The Treehouse too?

No, I don't think I could do that, I'd miss the hubs and DSS if I was working two jobs, I'd surely not see as much of them or my MIL and FIL.  :-\\\\

Just rang my BFF and she had to slap me into reality to say of course I will take the job making more money and taking a step up toward a more professional career if they offer it, etc, etc. The Treehouse was really supposed to be my back-up job, the other one was the main job. And while I may not make any new friends at the office job, at least I would have more money to go out with the friends I do have.  :P I did hate waiting tables sometimes in the US, I guess maybe I miss the friendship and all of that which comes along with service industry jobs, though. Still, I guess it's not much of a reason to settle for minimum wage and working evenings and weekends when I could have more.  :-\\\\ Plus, they basically pointed out that I would be one of the oldest people working there.  :-X :-[

Still, tonight, I'm celebrating just having ANY job right now. I guess I should just worry about the rest as it comes.  ;) ;D

Congrats, Congrats, Congrats!

No advice this time, I feel terrible about saying I thought you should stay at the factory rather than take the outdoors job only for the factory to close down a week later. Been having the major guilts!

Oh, and don't be silly, woman! I made that decision myself. I'm not sorry I made it, to be honest. It all worked out. The lass I interviewed with at the Garden referred me to the Treehouse, and so now I have a permanent job at the Garden anyway. What's there to be sorry about?!  :) As my FIL pointed out, I'm an employee of the royal family now, and since the Duchess comes into the restaurant a lot (it's her place, after all) I will probably be serving her at some point!  ;D Pretty cool!

Well however it works out - you've got a job!  :D

Congrats, Jewlz! Here's hoping the other interviews result in offers, too, so that you can pick and choose (even if that's an IA in itself!), but even if not, you have a job again! Yay!

I got the job at The Treehouse!!!  ;D ;D It doesn't pay much, but its close by, and the girls I met there were amazing and can't wait to be my new friends, they practically invited me for a night out with them already!  ;) I felt right at home there as soon as I was talking to them.

I also got another interview on Thursday for a PA/Secretary job for maternity cover for 6 -12 months, though I'm not sure if I should bother going now. And I haven't heard back from the people I interviewed with yesterday, though I feel really positive about that job. Thing is, I know if I get that first job I interviewed for (admin asst), I should take it, but I will feel terrible canceling out at the restaurant after they were so excited for me to work there (I thought the manager was going to hug me before I left!), and making new friends at work and being active again sounds more fun than sitting in a tiny office by myself all day, even though I'd be earning more money and taking a step up on my CV.  However, we only have the one car, so the restaurant would be super easy to get to by bus and lots of other people who work there live in my area, so they said I could car share with them. If hubs gets a job away in Newcastle or somewhere, sharing the car would be very tricky. :-\\\\

You go, girl!  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]  :)

UP: my boss has agreed to sick leave and is willing to wait for nice GP to write a sick note backdated to the beginning of September.

IA: nice GP isn't back until 20th September and I hope she agrees to the sick note.

I'm sure she will! That's why she's the nice GP!  ;)

Thanks, everyone. I've decided if they offer that other job today, I will take it, and if they don't offer it, I will go to the interview on Thursday. I think it's best to stick with admin/office stuff instead of going back to service industry unless I have to. But I am very happy that no matter what happens, I at least have a job at the end of the month.  ;D

Congrats J!!!

IA: I have no house keys. We gave my set to the woman who checked on the cat while we were away. I was all set to go out and get some lunch, milk for coffee (I'm dying!), and stuff for dinner, when I realized I can't get out. I'm trying not to think too much about the fact that if there is a fire in the building I would be in serious trouble.

UP: At first I felt guilty about not going to the gym, but now it clearly wasn't my fault!  ;D

IA: After all that deliberation, I didn't even get the office job I interviewed for and was prepared to accept.  :P

UP: I have a job anyway! So all is well. And the manager emailed me my schedule for my first week, which looks really easy (three days 11-4 and two evenings 4-10) and said how much she was looking forward to having me join their team. Awww!  :-* I really did somehow know that I would end up working there. I'm sure it was meant to be and something great will come of it.  :D

Glad to hear all has worked out for you Jewlz and you're happy about the job. Hopefully your DH will find something soon, too. :)

UP: Had tea with one of the top editors at Penguin yesterday, (editor of Nick Hornby, Will Self, etc.) and he was a really lovely guy who was willing to help out on my silly dissertation by answering some questions.

IA: I now have to transcribe the entire interview (from a recording) for my dissertation. It takes ages!
I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.' Kurt Vonnegut

Now that's positive thinking! Good luck.
