You are a USC living in the UK, so for your husband to get a US green card, you use DCF with the American Consulate in London. You are allowed to do this because you are a resident of the UK, albeit a Limited resident (no ILR), but a resident none the less. I guess you do want to be careful, though, because I think it is averaging 4-6 months right now using DCF, and if you are right at the 2 year mark, your current visa may expire, and you don't want that to happen!

I've been looking into this too, you don't need ILR but you have to have a resident (non-tourist, not sure about student) visa and you must be in the UK for longer than six months.

I will have FLR/spouse visa.  I haven't looked into this too much (yet) but I always thought I could only do Direct Consular Filing if I was a citizen. 4-6 months and being together during that time is nothing! I was soooo scared that I would have to go back to the US and file for the K3 spouse visa and be apart while it was processing for 8 months or more! I'm relieved to hear all of this! Thank you all...
