Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking... I was just wondering about immunizations. Will you have to get yours all over again? Do you get any sort of immunity from your donor?
no I don't mind you asking at all!
I essentially start from scratch. I was going to say like a newborn baby, but at least they get some immunity from their mums! I have to get ALL the childhood immunisations all over again, but not until 6 months for the dead virus ones, and 1 year for the live virus ones like mmr. And I need to stay away from any kids who've had jabs recently, too. I'm going to be SO annoyed if I have to get chicken pox twice in my life!! It wasn't fun when I was 5 but I'm sure it'd be worse now...
Oh and Kerry- being on a boat has been my lifesaver! I can still socialise with everyone even if they're sick, because I'm on our deck and they're 3m away on the next boat so I'm still safe.

I can't imagine the isolation if I lived in a flat. We don't really take Hendrik out because our engine is so massive it'd cost £300-400 in diesel just to take her down to the Medway and back for a weekend. And that's more than we spend for an entire winter of heat and hot water!! A few years down the road, we'd ideally like to take her out a couple times a year on short trips but with all our massive renovations we can't afford to do more than turn the engine over to keep it in good running order.
