When employer pays rental fees

Hi everyone,
I'm making the big move in two weeks and will be looking for a place to live. My employer is covering the costs of my move, including rental deposits and fees. My question: how easy/difficult is it to ask a letting agency to invoice your employer for the deposit and rent? Basically, it this standard practice, or would this be an unusual request or one that an agent may say no to?

My new employer is quite prominent in the town I'm moving to and I'm a 30 something professional, if that matters.

Most letting agents/landlords would probably be delighted with that arrangement as it shows you have stable employment.

Ophinky, When did you inform the letting agency about this? On first contact by phone or email, or did you wait until you met in person?

Basically, I'm wondering if letting agents prefer cash/certified cheques up front and if having to inovice the employer is seen as a hassle that slows down the process. I only have two weeks to find a place, so a little neurotic. But, from the responses here, it doesn't seem like I have to worry!

I have no idea what the technical terms are, but most stuff seems to gets done electronically between accounts.  No actual paper checks were written.  Even to pay our rent, it's all a "standing order" that transfers the money to the landlord once a month. 

We were totally up front from the start about being a corporate move, but I don't think it made a bit of difference.  We just moved again on our own and it was the same process, just us forking over our money instead of arranging for the company to do it.  :P

Our only slowdown was waiting for our company to send the money, and then waiting for it to show up.  It took a few days.  BUT the estate agents didn't care -- we were the ones chomping at the bit!
