UK Single                             2'6"x6'3"            75x190

US Twin/Single                   3'3"x6'3"           100x190

That's weird. I have a US single bed which came over with me. I bought some UK single sheets for it last week and the fitted sheet is a bit too big! How can that be?

No idea,, I just don't think there is a true industry standard on bed linens over here.

I know that this is an old thread but have been trying to decide about bringing bed linens with me. I have a set on my US full size bed that I love as well as a handmade full/queen quilt that I want to bring. Will they definitely fit a UK double bed?

Also, are the bath openings relatively the same size over there? I have a shower curtain that I love and want to bring it. Of course, if the shower curtains over there need to be wider, I don't want to bring it. Any advice?

My single sheets from the US fit our mattresses purchased here with no problems whatsoever. I have a double sized quilt from the US and we use it on our UK 'king' sized bed which is the same as a US queen sized. It's not got a long overhang on either side, but it suits us for summer and we're each able to hang on to our own bit of quilt so it seems big enough.

I brought my very expensive queen size sheets and queen size matress cover.  They are a little big for the uk full size bed we have but they work just fine.  The fitted sheets have elastic almost all the way around them and I think that is the reason they work on the smaller bed.

i've had exactly the same experience. queen sheets fit queen beds over here, but american are slightly bigger.

i would *definately* bring linens over from the states b/c the ones here aren't as nice and they cost a fortune. you could spend upwards of £100 for a queen set of poly/cotton.

the one nice thing i think they have more of here is duvets and duvet covers so if you don't want to cart a giant comforter over here you could buy a duvet/duvet cover here. john lewis is brilliant for linens. http://www.johnlewis.com/

good luck
