They have most of the same breakfast sandwiches on muffins and bagels instead of the biscuits, but also they have a bacon sandwich on a sub roll sort of thing with brown sauce (or the one at Heathrow airport did, anyway). DH got the Big Breakfast thing last time we went and it looked abysmal, he said it was totally rank. It was a dry "English" muffin, some nasty looking scrambled eggs (probably microwaved or something) a few straggly, ridiculously thin bacon strips, a sausage patty (they don't taste the same in UK - a lot more bland than the ones in the states to me) and a greasy hash brown patty.

The only things I ever liked at McD's for breakfast were the sausage biscuits and breakfast burritos, so that sucks for me! I had a bagel with jam last time I was there because nothing else looked good.

The only time I remember having McDonald's for breakfast is when I was meeting someone early on a Sunday morning at Heathrow. It was the only thing open that early (around 8 am) in my neighborhood.

Tim and I avoided all US fast food while I was visiting, but when we were driving back to his house from Liverpool at ridiculous o'clock in the morning, McD's was the only thing open, and we broke down and had breakfast.

But even in the US, I still only go to McDonald's for breakfast.

Darn it, now I want an Egg McMuffin.

When I arrived super early in Dublin and was waiting for my connection to London in May, I went to McD's for breakfast. I got the egg/cheese mcmuffin. It was pretty good. And I never eat McD's in the States.

Just a note for veggies- the fries and hashbrowns are coated in beef fat in the States. They aren't in the UK/Europe so you can eat them there! I got a nice hashbrown in Dublin, too.

Oh, and the fried apple pies still exist in the UK. Soooo yummy!

Actually, I'm not sure about the fries.  The ingredients claim they have 'natural beef flavoring' and I can't figure out what that means, because they then say it's made of wheat and stuff.  They don't actually list 'beef' as an ingredient.  But I don't eat them anyway, just in case.  :)

Me either. I think there was a lawsuit about it a few years ago that brought out the fact that the fries weren't actually vegetarian because of the beef coating.

Yeah, I think I take it back, because the site says that wheat and milk are the 'starting ingredients'.  So they must have beef in there.  Sucks because I love the hashbrowns!

Me, too! But that way, they become a treat when I'm in the UK/Europe just like the pies! Luckily we've got Chick Fil A to substitute. :P

Yeah, it's not McDonald's breakfast without an egg and cheese biscuit, and the pancakes taste totally different and are kinda rubbery. Tried an apple pie here once too, not like at home, absolutely disgusting- at least at the McDonald's I went to.

That's one good thing we have here that isn't in the states! That is what I usually get, even though I'm not vegetarian, because I love falafel, and because it seems to be the only thing I can eat there anymore without getting sick.

My mom and I used to go get the Biscuits and Strawberry Jam with Coffee. That was it. McDonalds biscuits are the BEST. I miss them so much!

I also miss the McGriddles. I think they were just genius...

Yeah, the veggie deli sub - it doesn't say its falafel, specifically, but the patty is made of chick peas with cumin, etc., and it tastes very much like falafel to me. They call it "spicy" but I definitely wouldn't go that far... Here is the link so you can see what it's like:

Anyway, my veggie friends in the states are pretty jealous because there aren't many veggie burgers or sandwiches offered in fast food restaurants there.

When I went to Egypt, we went in a McD's just to get a drink, aside from the air con being very welcome in the 110+ degree heat, I noticed you could get a McFalafel sandwich!

Anyway - only thing I like at McD is the sausage and egg muffin
