Transferring Child's Medical Records from the US
« on: August 14, 2009, 08:12:32 AM »
Has anyone done this? Is it straightforward? My daughter doesn't have any allergies or significant medical history that her GP would need to know about, but I do want to make sure that her immunization records transfer.

Has anyone had problems transferring medical records from the US to the UK?

For my records I just called my US doctor and had a copy made of all my records and brought them with me and presented them to my GP when I went to my first appointment.

I did exactly the same thing for my own records (don't have kids).  The GP didn't want all the records but he did want my immunization records.  I think I had to pay my US doctor to get the records since I was picking them up and they weren't being sent directly to another doctor but it wasn't much and was definitely worth it as a couple specialists have requested my previous medical records.  So, I would suggest getting your own records in addition to your child's records.

Boo.

How did I forget to make copies of these before leaving the US? I might be able to convince them to fax the immunization record over, but I don't know if they'll be willing to pay the long-distance fees. I'll see what I can do.
