Dude, is there anything that ISN'T on Wiki? I should've known to look there before asking...

Now I really wanna do this for the 3 year old, but then he will want me to do it, like, 50 more times in a row. Maybe when he is a bit older...  ;)

usually a pinch of baking soda while brewing the tea will eliminate the cloudiness.....no guarantees though....lol

I've found that using hard water tea bags helps a bit with that too.

Everything is on Wiki. Tim discovered last night the "United States of Canada/Jesusland" image from the 2004 election. He had never seen it before and somehow it randomly popped up on Wiki.

I gave up on iced tea in the UK about six years ago.  Two sisters came over to visit us this summer for the first time and they weren't so accepting.  They made it with PG Tips and that seemed to do the trick, although it was certainly cloudy.  Also, stopped at some services on the way to York and the woman behind the counter at Costa was accommodating with hot tea and a cup of ice.  I couldn't believe how excited they were!!  I will say that the folks in Starbucks were not as nice.  :(

DW seems to make it ok using PG Tips - well, she's not complained about it not being right at least!

For myself, I disagree with using PG Tips, or Tetley, or whatever normal 'builders' tea you normally drink hot.  It just doesn't taste right to me.  Gotta have the orange pekoe, and then it is perfect!

Hee... I've always joked that American Starbucks' baristas are well-oiled coffee-making machines. When I order a coffee in the states they'll grin like madmen while bending over backwards to make your latte in 10 seconds flat.

Here they take 20 minutes to make the same drink, and they don't even bother giving it a stir.  :P

I guess I should be glad that here, at least, corporate hasn't seeped into every aspect of their employees' being, but really I'm just sad that my coffee tastes funny.

Yep, me too. I grew up in the south, where we always had a jug of sweet and un-sweetened tea in the fridge. Sigh... you take it for granted growing up, but those really were the good ol' days.  ;)

You guys might say it's not the same, duno. We lived in the states for a couple of years (we're both Brits) and got a liking for Iced Tea.

When we returned to the UK we used to make it, and then most of the larger retailers started to stock:- http://www.unilever.co.uk/ourbrands/foods/Lipton_Iced_Tea.asp [nofollow]

It's too long ago, so I can't tell whether it tastes the same or not as the stuff we had when in the US.

That stuff is ok, but I think most people are talking about the fresh or home brewed variety.  Not the pre-made sweetened stuff.  It is pretty common though.   :)

'Someone' has come up with the solution:

I make it often, using orange pekoe teabags.

My local Sainsburys stopped selling Dimlah orange pekoe teabags.  Grrrrrrrrrrr!
