Moving to the UK, roll call!
« on: August 15, 2009, 08:41:59 PM »
It looks like a number of people are making the big leap in the next couple of weeks.  I think it would be nice to see who is making the move (roughly at the same time) and then help each other through the bumps and dips of our first year or so.

I'm moving to Preston, England (just north of Manchester) via a 3 months stint in the Netherlands.  You?

Leaving in a week for Newcastle-upon-Tyne for grad school. BF lives there, so it's likely I'll stay longer than the year program.

In a little under 3 weeks, I'll be moving in with my husband, who lives in Daventry, Northampton. We're looking to be there at least 8-10 years until his kids are grown, then we might look into relocating to the US, but Daventry will be 'home' for the forseeable future.

Sure 8 weeks works, that is only 2 months.  I suspect there is a lot more people then I thought about to make the fall/autumn move.   ;D

I'm in the same boat as sheateawholepie.  I'm moving to Glasgow for grad school and my boyfriend lives there.  I leave 3 weeks from today.  If all goes well, this time next year I'll be bothering everyone about how to apply for T1 PSW.  :)

I'm hoping to be able to move to Wakefield area by the end of October.  But I'm not sure if I qualify or not because I'm just praying this dream will be possible within that amount of time.   [smiley=anxious.gif]

Ha, I'll be flying through Glasgow with a pit stop for the Football matches.  Looks like you'll be just a few days behind, woohoo!

I'm joining my fiance this fall in Surrey.  Fingers crossed my home doesn't take long to sell.  I want to be outta the states by early to mid September the very latest October.

We'll be on the next flight out as soon as we find someone to watch our dog and find tenants for our house. So, hopefully sooner rather than later!

We're moving to Oxfordshire, initially.

I'm hoping to move over, but it may not happen until late 2009/2010.  I need to:
- sell my horse
- rent my house
- find a job

so it depends on how long those things take.  Hopefully #1 and #2 won't take more than a month or 2, #3 is the big unknown.

After weeks and weeks of dealing with lots of b.s. and obstacles and such, I think I will have everything I need tomorrow...as soon as my sole responsilbity document is in my hands, I'm going to come straight home and apply. It looks like they have biometrics appts available for Friday, then I'm sending it in via courier so hopefully I'll know by Wednesday or so next week? Then I'm buying the first tickets out of here! Seriously...like the first ones.

Hastings, here I come! (Until we can afford to move to Brighton)

Oh my god, I hope my application is accepted.
I'm a wreck. I keep having nightmares that I get refused. ahhhhhhhhh.
Here we go:

17 AUG 2009- Applied online
20 AUG 2009- Biometrics
24 Aug- Sent everything to expediter
26 Aug-Application taken to consulate
26 Aug-Fiancee visas approved!!!
 2 Sep-Moved to UK!

Soon!!!
MIL is not in good shape and we need to make sure that someone is close to take care of her.  Just need to make sure the pets are ready to go, waiting on the pet passport, and get the house rented, find a Job, and find a place to live. :-X it seems like a daunting list.  I think that finding a job and housing in or around Marlow in Bucks is going to be the tough on I think.  Very few jobs and very expensive to live.  Oh and we are also waiting on the US government to give my Wife her Citizenship as well, that should be in October or November, but you ALL know how much red tape is involved with anything with our governments.
Haikus are easy.
But sometimes they don't make sense.

If all the paperwork gets sorted, I'll be moving out to the Milton Keynes area in a month or so.

It's crunch time!
