I'm leaving Wednesday, and the panic has started to set in!

EEEK!
This whole process has been nearly impossible for me and cost a crap ton more than I expected it to, so I hope I love England forever and ever.

Goods, are you leaving Wednesday? I'm flying through Minneapolis that day, maybe we'll be at the airport at the same time(assuming that you are flying from there)! :P

This might be a silly question, but your count-down on the bottom of your post says you're leaving the 31st of Aug, but Wednesday is the second of September... Please pardon my need to ask  ::) ;)
09/29/09--Visa Approved!
10/05/09--Leave for the UK!!!
06/15/12--Back in the US indefinitely...

I am flying out Wednesday from the Minneapolis airport.  What time and what airline are you on?

I am panicking too, I am starting to question if I did the Netherlands side of the visa process correct because everything has read that if I am there under 90 days I don't need a visa but now I am worried I do actually need to apply for the schengen visa.  Eck!

D'oh! I should change that. I was going to go that day, but my fiance couldn't get off work to meet me at the airport, so I bought our tickets for Wed.

Goods, I am flying Northwest Airlines from Mephis-Minnepolis, Minneapolis-Heathrow. I know I leave Memphis at 2:15pm and that my layover is 5+ hrs...I'm not actually sure what time we land though. When will you be there?
Here we go:

17 AUG 2009- Applied online
20 AUG 2009- Biometrics
24 Aug- Sent everything to expediter
26 Aug-Application taken to consulate
26 Aug-Fiancee visas approved!!!
 2 Sep-Moved to UK!

Yeah I have lived in 6 different states in the last 4 years (due to the nature of the political work I did) on top of traveling every couple of weeks but I think what has me a bit freaked out is that I can't just zip home to get things I forgot or have someone easily and cheaply (is that a word) mail me things I forgot.  Eck!  I also am doing 3 months in the Netherlands before actually my final destination of England so come Dec. I have to do this all over again. Oh dear!

CQ, at least we are in the packing misery together but just think in just a few days we'll have reached out goal, kind of!  Good luck!

Yep, those are the same worries I'm having!  The worst for me is the internal debates such as "Will l actually wear those shoes or do I just like the idea that I would wear those shoes?" or "Is it really all that silly to try and bring my coin bank shaped like a globe? Yes, it is...who am I kidding?  But, I've had it through every move...but, no, well...ugggggh"

I also have an incredible ability to put receipts in random places, so I keep finding stashes of little bits of paper everywhere.  I think I need to move frequently just to clear the junk out of my life!

Good luck to you too, almost there!  Then we can dread unpacking! :)

That is a hilarious post!

That is funny about the coin bank, I just said to my father, can you take all this change and run it through one of those counting machines since you get it for free.

I hear you on the shoes, I currently have 9 pairs of shoes laying out.  I already cut out 5 pairs.... ugh!

It's good to know I'm not the only one standing in my closet trying to narrow everything down to a couple suitcases and some boxes :P I spent this week cleaning out all the stuff I know I'll never wear (including a whole load of flip flops I've had for years that just needed to go in the bin, they were really cheap and worn out). I've got my suitcase sorted for all  my big items (wool coat, trousers, sweaters, etc), and all my shirts and undergarments and such will go in my duffel bag.

I'll be flying out this Friday, from Portland to Newark, and then Newark to Birmingham. The hubby refuses to drive into London, and Birmingham is closer to where he lives anyway so it works out :) I'm not the best when it comes to flying, but I've done it before and it'll be okay, it's just the few days leading up to the flight that are the worst for my anxiety and such.

Icelandair has decent one way prices, or they did last time I checked.

They do! I found one way flights on expedia.com with them (and another carrier for within the US) from San Diego for only $481 or so. :)

I am not sure if they feed you though so if you take the ticket keep in mind they, according to the reviews from 09, operate as a low cost airline.

I'll let you know what I think after my trip on Wednesday.

Another Wednesday flier!   ;D   You won't be joining Dangerface and I in Minneapolis will you? I am assuming no since you live by Chicago.  Have a safe flight!

Thanks! If I end up in Minneapolis then something will be up.

Glad to know there are others making the leap on Wed. We can all make the adjustment together.

It is exciting and nerve racking reading these posts and knowing I will be doing the same in a week or so. I booked my flight! I leave 18 Sept and fly through Chicago. I arrive at LHR on 19 Sept early so my husband can pick me and my worldly possessions up at the airport. I am visiting my bro and sis-in-law in CO until the 9th, and then back to FL to pack up my stuff!
Good luck to you all! I look forward to reading about your adjustment to the UK. It's nice we are all kind of going through this together.
I am most excited that I won't have to worry about all of the questions on the other side this time!

Aww! I nearly flew 18 September but didn't want to wait that long! (I have to arrive on a Saturday, so it was either 11 Sept or 18 Sept)
