My flight leaves at 7:30 tonight.  Currently running around like a madwoman.  And the knots in my tummy are unbelievable!  So excited, nervous, terrified, elated, and every other emotion possible.

I've been 'in country' for three days now, and as a returning Brit my head is spinning with (a) all the stuff I've been missing and which is exactly the same, and (b) all the new/different stuff I have no idea how to cope with, having been away for more than a decade. I just spent lunchtime at a country pub watching my kids play with a group of total strangers' kids while a village cricket match played out in the adjacent field.

Which was nice...  ;D

That's wonderful news --- and yes deep breaths do help!!

Thanks guys! I made it in one piece with only one bag overweight (by only 4 pounds, ugh!).  I'm stuffed from an awesome Greek restaurant near Kelvingrove, and am getting ready to settle in and catch up on some sleep.  Good luck to everyone about to make the jump, and to those who are fresh off the boat like me! :)

You, too, lehrein! It's scary, but worth it...and I'm still hoping it's not as dreary as some have made it sound. Things seem to be looking up on the employment front, according to my finance editor friend...right...righhhhht? :)
Best to you both and let me know how the settling in goes!

anais97, I'm with you!  My husband and I are moving over in two weeks (!) on Tier 1 visas - we're showing up without jobs, and without any good reason to be there other than that this is something we really want to do, and we know we'll regret it if we don't give it a try.  And like you said, if it doesn't work out, we can always come back...

Best of luck to you!  Keep us posted!

I should be in Essex around October20 or so. Not exactly sure where I'll be living yet, but temp accommodations are arranged. Awaiting sponsorship certificate. Coming for work - have accepted an offer.

I'm jealous. I had to push my start date with Essex to January.   :(  Good luck and let me know how it goes!
