The latest a university can accept or reject you?
« on: August 20, 2009, 05:54:44 AM »
Does anyone know when is the absolute latest that a UK university can reply to your Confirm and Insurance choices? UCAS doesn't give a specific date for this and I'm cringing over here in anticipation for a final decision for SOAS. I know I can go to school here, but I need their decision so I can register for classes. I don't want to have to register, pay for classes and books, etc, only to find out that I have an open spot at SOAS, and lose what I have already paid for, not to mention the gathering of paperwork, taking the loans, visas... GAHH Classes here start next Monday...please pardon that slight ranting.
09/29/09--Visa Approved!
10/05/09--Leave for the UK!!!
06/15/12--Back in the US indefinitely...

Well, the final results for the UK A level qualifications come out this morning (in a couple of hours - my brother will be at home right now waiting for his) and so today is the day that thousands of UK students will find out if they got the grades needed for their conditional university place offers. All of the universities across the country will be making their final acceptances/rejections/clearance choices in the next day or two, so I would imagine that you will hear very soon.

Have you contacted SOAS about it at all? It might be worth giving them a call today to find out whether you have got your place. I would expect it will a very busy day for most universities with new students calling to confirm their places/ask questions but it's worth calling if you can (I did that for my undergrad uni as I'd missed out on getting a scholarship by less than 1% and I wanted to ask about retaking the last exam and deferring for a year... which I didn't do in the end because it would have meant re-applying through UCAS all over again).

I think I'll give it just one more day before I call. I've called them three times-once no answer, second time they couldn't confirm if they received my new scores, third time they said they received my documents and that they would be reaching a decision in a few days. I have emailed them quite a few times, but haven't received a response in a while, but as you said ksand24, they're probably too busy to answer every email. I'm still crossing my fingers!
