Las Vegas tickers

I have noticed on more then a few profile tickers and it seems to me that there are a lot of us that will be going to Vegas soon. I was just wondering about any shows or places people have been to before and what they like best about Vegas. We will be there for 4 days so I want to try and fit in as much as possible and do new things.

I have been there before and I could recommend the Blue Man Group Show. Lot's of fun and good music! We also go to Toby Keith's I love this Bar at Harrahs Casino. Perfect if you love country music like we do. They also have a great menu and drinks are cheap. TK's is also a flair bar. I was amazed at some of the tricks the bartenders could do!

We are mostly planning on doing a lot of relaxing.  It's going to be really hot so I'm not going to be outside too much, although I do want to hang by the pool.  I have been there a few times so I've already done the fountains and the shopping for the most part, and seen a lot of the shows I like. I do like seeing free shows when I can...or matinee shows.  There are a lot of good ones that aren't too expensive. One thing I'd love to do is see Bette Midler, but the tickets are pretty pricey.  I'd also like to do the roller coaster at NYNY.

I've been to Las Vegas about 20 times, and  have never been to a show!
I used to like to gamble a lot, and also to eat a lot... and Vegas is a good place for both. 

The roller coaster at NYNY has got to be one of, if not, my favourite roller coasters I've been on!  I've been to Vegas a couple times in the summer - be prepared for it to be VERY hot!  Plan on staying inside or being by the pool during the day.  Also, if you're like me and get cold easily at all, make sure to bring a cardigan or something into the over air-conditioned casinos!  DH laughed at me bringing my sweater along in July - but I needed it INSIDE!

Yikes! you werent kidding about the Bette Midler tickets. I just looked at the prices and $126.00 is the cheapest I could find and thats for a Tuesday.

I would love to go see Criss Angel, I used to watch his show Mindfreak all the time. Just found out his tickets start at $70.00 ea so we will most likely check it out.

We will be staying at NYNY but no way will you catch me on the roller coaster. I'm a scaredy cat!  

Yeah, those are the hot tickets.  I would love to go!  I keep going back and forth.  My hairdresser said, 'She's not going to be around forever!  You have to see these legends before they're gone!'  I kind of agree!  I think my parents (who are going at the same time as me) might do it.  I bet the Criss Angel show will be good.  My husband's a magician and we will probably check that out next time (he's not coming with me on this trip).  If you like comedy magic, you would probably like Mac King.  He does a matinee show which is cheap, and he is very funny.  I might see him again.

I am staying at Mandalay Bay.  I have been there before but never stayed there.  I can't wait to do the beach and wave pool!  I also was reading about their 'adults only' club...some women go topless (don't think I'm up for it).  The best part is no kids!  I might spring for it and check it out.

I'm also planning on doing some of the nicer bars...maybe the Ghost Bar which has an amazing view of the Strip at night.  And my sister is friends with an executive chef at the MGM Grand, so I might try to check out one of their restaurants for dinner. 

The pool at Mandalay Bay is great! We usually stay at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay but this time we are staying at the Red Rock. We don't usually make it to shows cause I love to gamble. 
This time, though, we are going to see Cher on my b-day. I can't wait!

To me, the best thing to do in Vegas is to lounge at the pool all day, have a great dinner in one of the many amazing restaurants, do some gambling and then hit the clubs or even some of the cheesy lounge bars.

Ghost Bar is really great and the view is incredible. I highly recommend it, G!!

This is exactly what I was planning on doing!!  I might also throw in a spa visit.  Can't wait to check out the Ghost Bar!  We are also potentially going off the Strip to check out some swing dancing (of course) and then heading back to the lounges.  They have live blues music at the House of Blues on Monday night so that's what we're doing when I first arrive (next Monday, can't wait!).

I enjoyed the shops and restaurants at Caesar's Palace when I went several years ago (man, that buffet at Caesar's nearly killed me - they had the BEST food and I ate WAY too much of it!) We stayed at the Luxor, but I checked out most of the other hotels on the strip. I just liked the over-the-topness of everything, and I wanted to see how all of the hotels looked on the inside (many of them are very impressive!) Went to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel and watched the water show at the Bellagio from there - which was fantastic. I would recommend that, definitely!

We live near Las Vegas and we also lived there for 5 years but you people seem to know it better than me.

My son is a front desk manager at one on the biggest hotels there.

The "over the top" description for LV is appropriate.

There are a lot of deals on hotels right now so it pays to shop around.

Note. They have all these British double decker buses on the strip if you get tired of walking from one "property" to another.

I lived in Denver for a number of years so it was nothing to take a $99 flight to Vegas for the weekend. Right now according to Time magazine hotel rooms can be had for as little as $22 a night at Circus Circus and deals as good as a $500 room last year dropping to about $125 a night at the Wynn ..IMO the newest and most extravagant hotel on the strip today ( it rivals the Bellagio) . Summer is crazy hot and it you walk the strip during the day be prepared for it feeling like opening an oven heat waves as you walk not kidding there! Some things I really enjoyed were of course the gambling and endless eating and free drinks (as long as you are gambling) , a Cirque De Soliel show (i have seen 3 of them thus far) Shopping in the Venetian is great with the gondolas, the glass flower ceiling, seasonal flower display and water shows at the Bellagio, the tower and rides at the top of the Stratosphere, the beach at Madalay Bay, Madame Tussuad's wax museum is in the Venetian as I think?, New ,New York for the Big Apple Experience, The hotels are an experience themselves as each has its own glitzy sparkly charms LOL. They say Las Vegas is for families now but I cant say I would EVER take my child there! but hey its just my humble opinion 

I think Las Vegas changed about 5 years ago and is back to the adult venue instead of the family.

I don't think you have seen the bottom for the price of hotel rooms. The new City Center (MGM owned)is going to start opening up and they will release hundreds of rooms to an already saturated market.

You can get luxury rooms for £20 a night (at the Silverton on a week night)

We went to Vegas earlier this month and loved it. I would even go back someday and I couldnt picture myself saying that a few weeks ago..Vegas just never appealed to me.
I found the drinks a tad expensive but the food was usually good value, and you can amuse yourself endlessly by wandering through all the hotels.
We stayed off the strip at the Hampton Inn Tropicana, really nice hotel, away from all the madness of the Strip with a nice pool. When I become a millionaire I will stay at Mandalay Bay.
Saying that, we tried the Minus 5 bar in the shopping mall between Mandalay Bay and Luxor, which was fun. Its an ice bar, for $25 you get one drink (they have a menu of about 6 cocktails that you can choose from and it is served in a glass made of ice) and you get to borrow a coat and gloves to go into the bar that is actually -5 degrees. Good fun..

When I become a millionaire I will stay at Mandalay Bay.

It's not that expensive!!  We just returned from our 3 night stay there.  

Our trip was fabulous.  Had such a good time.  Ate, drank, walked around, went in the wave pool, got tons of sun, gambled.  Went on the roller coaster at New York New York.  One of my friends was a big player (from my perspective) and so I got to sit at the blackjack table and learn how it works.  I was tempted to try myself but I was too chicken.  I cannot wait to go back!!  Had an amazing time at the spa with some much needed pampering.  Next time I want to stay at the Wynn.
