And from what I can tell, you absolutely have to have the $30 data service on it as a minimum.  But I wouldn't want to have it as just internet - I'd want it to be a phone as well.  I would definitely put the phone on the lowest plan, but that's still $40.  Then texting which I would want is another $15 for the level I want.  So we're close to $100 already.  I currently pay about $50 a month, so it would be a big jump for me.  :\\\'(

I had been doing about $25/month in PAYG charges, so it was a huge jump in price for me as well, but I really wanted it and I don't regret it at all.

I'm so considering it, but will be a big jump for me too.  Currently on a legacy Virgin plan for £10/month with 300 mins/300 texts.

Yes, this is what I'm freaking out about.  The thing is, I KNOW I will use it like mad.  Especially with all my traveling.  But do I really want to do that?  DH complains enough about how much I'm on the computer.  This may just push him overboard.  :-X

My cousin justified his iPhone because he stopped his home computer use. Granted, his home computer had just died, so it was easier to make the switch, but you may find you're on the desktop or laptop less if you have an iPhone...
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Yeah, my DH tried to run that one past me too, but he needs access at home.  We might get rid of our landline, though. And I would always choose the computer over the iPhone if I had a choice, due to the interface.  I just can't stand the keyboard and the touch screen!  But I've basically reconciled myself to it for the apps.  :-\\\\

You won't regret it, Geeta!

I wouldn't have it replace my home computer, but it does make it easy to browse forums and stuff at work. ;-) Plus, it's handy to have if out and about.

I was scared too, especially since it was the day L. moved back to England and it wasn't really the time (one month ago today). I do not regret it at all, though. It's one of the few purchases I've made lately that I'm 100% happy with and wouldn't change a thing.

I am!! Damn DH has forgotten his password on the Powerbook, so I can't download my songs from iTunes!!  I'm so annoyed about that.  But otherwise, I love it!

Plus when I was there, the salesgirl asked 'do you work somewhere that has a discount with us?'  I said, I work for XXX, and she said, 25% off your monthly service!  SCORE!  Now I feel totally justified having switched.  It'll be about the same as I'm paying now. I'm soooo happy about that!  ;D
