I sat through the whole thing. There ought to be some sort of medal for that.  :P

Yes, please!
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

I most definitely!

Actually, I think it should be marketed as an emetic, although I'd rather swallow a spoonful of syrup of ipecac than sit through that film.

....and would you believe I've never seen trainspotting?

Good luck renting it.  I tried to get it from Blockbuster one time and the guy behind the counter told me that they stopped stocking it years ago because it ranks high among their least returned movies.  The guy said, "yeah, stoners rent it and then...they just never bring it back."  Ha!

Where else are you going?

We start in Dublin for three days, then are taking the ferry over to Holyhead where Tim's picking us up and taking her on a "tour" - Liverpool, Lancaster (only because we live in Lancaster, PA. LOL), North Yorkshire, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, York, and a few other places before we get down to Lincoln. a few days in Lincoln, a day trip to London, and possibly a trip to Paris if we can fit it all in!

hahah wow.  I'm pretty sure Tim has it. Which doesn't do me any good for watching it with Mom before we go, but I'll see it eventually.

The UK section of my DVD collection contains mostly TV shows and few films:

Spaced
Shaun of the Dead - my mom liked it, which says a lot
Hot Fuzz - bring the noise
Black Books - black indeed
Little Britain Live
24 Hour Party People -
Monty Python box set

I've seen all of those, and loved them, but I can't quite see the appeal for my mom with those...I tried to get her to watch Black Books, and her only comment was "he's mean".

That doesn't bode well for her UK experience!  :P

That movie was adorable.  I seem to remember it was Irish though?  I could be wrong.

Nope English, but it was based on the false premise that England was switching to the Euro from the Pound.

I loved it though!

Dunno how many people have seen it, but Mischief Night is a pretty good representation of life in my neck of the woods....  ;D

I was going to say 'Local Hero' -- a gorgeous film, showcases Scotland in a really lovely and non-cliched way. Seriously, give it a try -- it's on my all-time Top Ten films list.

More recently, Happy Go Lucky is worth a look. It has a few unsavoury characters in it, but generally gives a great sense of the look and feel of life in the UK (specifically London)
