Loan disbursement
« on: August 25, 2009, 08:33:25 PM »
So with the uni I am attending, if I pay my tuition in one lump sum, I save a few hundred pounds and am not charged another few hundred pounds for an admin fee.  It adds up to a significant amount of money so, I was wondering if anyone on here has been able to convince Sallie Mae to disburse loans all at once?  I know that under borrower's rights #8 it states if enrolled in a foreign school that loan disbursements requirements do not apply.  This leads me to believe I can have it in one lump sum, does anyone have experience doing this?

It depends on your uni. Mine is similar in charging extra for payment plans, but they don't count loan disbursements in that category.

oh I never even thought of that.  I'll have to ask the loan lady at the uni but she is on holiday until next week, terrible time (on a selfish note) to go on holiday but what can you do?

Okay for future reference for other students, I finally got through to Sallie Mae and as of July 7, they can no longer legally give one lump sum for the disbursement.  Figures!
