Gamers: any good UK-based driving simulator games out there?
« on: August 28, 2009, 05:35:38 PM »
What I really need is lots and lots of practice driving on the left. It would be wonderful to do that under conditions where if I screw up, it totally doesn't matter. A driving simulator game would be PERFECT.

Anyone know of any good ones? I don't have a games console, but I would be willing to buy one. Seeing what I'll probably spend on driving lessons, I think it would be worth it to shave off a few. Shoot, I could probably get a steering-wheel-and-shift thingie and still come out even. (Plus -- gaming console!)

A serious driving simulator would be better than a racing game, but hey. Whatever. Did I mention I could get a gaming console out of it?

Google searches turn up plenty of results, but I wondered if any dedicated gamers had an opinion.

Being one of the few resident UKY gamers, I have to say... Im at a loss.  I know as far as driving is concerned, Forza Motorsport (or something to the effect) is one of the best out there, but as far as a "learning to drive" application is concerned, not sure it would do you a world of good.

I would be on the lookout for PC titles, as a helpful hint however.  You wont find hardly any true simulations available on the current gen consoles (xbox 360, wii, ps3). It's sort of a PC domain.
