I'm already halfway through the first book and have the second on hold at the library!  Will definitely finish all of them between now and season 4.  Can't wait to keep reading.  The show is actually pretty close to the book, at least from where I've gotten so far.

Basically the bones of the books frame each season, but the show is just kind of a different creature. There are some changes Alan Ball made for the show that are a great call in terms of being good TV, but diverge from the books greatly. I'm quite fond of both, but in different ways.

Whole new world for a Southern gardener, but I'm very happy.

Whihle I enjoyed the episode, that really didn't feel like a season finale. I mean, where was the DUM-DUM-DAAAAAH! like they normally have?

I'm looking forward to Jason being a father figure to the hillbillies. Talk about the blind leading the blind, pfff (seriously, where did they find those extras, and what was that casting call like??)

Totally agree. The i09 pros and cons were so on target for this one. She was right when she said they should have ended with Russell's newscast. I hate the hillbilly Hot Shot storyline (and Sam's hick family). So annoying, and such a terrible stereotype for southern people.  ::) It took too much time away from the good storylines. And not enough sex!  :P Seriously, we need to be seeing more of Alcide.  ;)

Speaking of Eric...
Have you guys seen "Generation Kill". It's an excellent (and short) miniseries done by the same guy who did the Wire. It follows an embedded reporter in Iraq (during the 1st Bush's presidency). And there is a lot of this. Plus, he tends to run around shirtless frequently. Mmmmm.

Can you view it in the UK somehow?

There's an interview he did on Swedish TV about how challenging this role was because of the combined issue of the accent plus all the unfamiliar military terminology.

The DVD set might be available by now. DH and I loved that show. I grew up around Marines, and he just liked saying "stay frosty".  :). Between Generation Kill and COD2, we had quite a military week over the summer.
That fascinating about the accent, except for him sounding, obviously, much classier than many Marines I know, the accent wasn't noticeable. It is possible I was distracted by the abs and the gorgeous eyes, though.  ;D

Somehow, the fact that I didn't know what the heck he was saying didn't bother me too much. Hehe!  ;)

I love True Blood!  We're renting them through Lovefilm, but it only has the 1st 2 seasons.

I enjoy watching True Blood. It is one of my favorite TV shows out there. The latest season had me go through different emotions, though mostly hate at Bill. I am looking forward to the next season.
