...

THEY HAVE PENN STATE PRETZELS IN THE UK?!?!?!?!

You've just made this PSU Alum VERY happy.  If I can't watch the games, at least I'll be able to eat the pretzels....out of my PSU bowl I'll bring along.

Yep -- sadly, they're not in blue & white packaging for the full effect.  But they are, indeed, Penn State brand pretzels.  They're edible, but not as tasty as some nice, fresh sourdough pretzels would be.

I am the pretzel eater and my husband is the alum.  We watch the games on our Slingbox (but not today becase the TV the slingbox is hooked to doesn't get the Big 10 Network  :-\\\\).  I am having pretzels anyway.   :P

What do you mean you "liked" the Penn State Pretzels? I went to Sainsburys today and they had them, as does Asda & Waitrose! They are everywhere!!!

I'm not in England anymore. No Penn State pretzels in Dublin, I'm afraid.  :(

Yeah, they just share the same name, though, there's no affiliation with the university as far as I'm aware. They're just kinda bog standard pretzels to me, though. The best pretzels I've found are the thick, hard ones that Costco stock in the big plastic barrels. The barrel seals, too, so we've always got some on hand for impromptu parties.

Shame you'll be so far away, though, because we've got a pretty active PSU alumni group here in London that one of my good friends runs. They get together every few months to watch the games in whatever sports bar is showing them, and, out-of-season, meet up for drinks at various pubs.
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London
99-00 - studied at Uni of Sussex on exchange
Feb 02 - moved to London on BUNAC
Sep 02 - WP granted (IT skills shortage list)
Sep 04 - WP renewed
Sep 06 - WP renewed again (screwed by 4-5 year ILR change)
Sep 07 - ILR!
March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!
Oct 12 - Amsterdam FULL marathon! 3:48:23!

It's the same here with the PSU pretzels.  Snyder's of Hanover is based in central PA and so they brand out PSU pretzels in the fall just for fun. Several local companies do similar things - there's also PSU mustard, Nittany Lion Franks, PSU branded Salsa from Utz, and at least a half a dozen others.  I'm used to walking into a store and seeing Penn State everywhere from about Mid-August until Bowl Game season!

AFAIK, London is the only area that has any kind of Alumni group. But after I'm moved over and we make it to a major bowl game, I'd be willing to take the train down to London to watch with fellow alums!

I like the thin stick pretzels and have found they are readily available in the Polish section of shops...not sure if everywhere has polish sections, we have a hight polish immigration population here in Crewe- so they are readily available.

Well Thanks for all the replies...I really was hoping to find somone that knew where to get these heaven of a pretzel from. They are really soooo gooood! I guess I will have to get my mom to send me some from the states.  Or maybe we should petition tesco, asda, sainsbury's, morrisons to get some of these great pretzels in.  What do you think is it worth a try? They do have some american stuff in these supermarkets. I don't see any harm in getting these pretzels in....

Comnav1, the Penn State pretzels are Snyder's, just branded to be Penn State.

Huh?? They seem to be from a company called 'InterSnack'. They have nothing to do with Penn State University or Snyder's pretzels.

And, IMO, not very good.

Wow, you just brought back a memory....I haven't seen them (in the US) for years.  :)  They must still be here but not front and center anymore.

They are everywhere in my hometown, but they are made more locally.

I remembered the other day that our local farm shop had some little bags of Synders, but not of Berlin, but they didn't have them when I went on Saturday.

Also, I would agree, the Penn State pretzels are not really good and have no connection with the kind I ate when I went to Penn State.  I think they just stole the name.

Hm. I could have sworn two years ago I bought Snyder's pretzels that had the Penn State logo on the  bag.

OTOH, it could be just a local thing.  hmmm.

Okay, I get it now. When someone said "Penn State pretzels" I assumed they meant the bags that get branded as Penn State around here. I didn't realize it was a company of itself. Whooops. Sorry about that.

...Maybe it was Utz? Darn it, if I go to Weis before I leave for Ireland, I'll write down the brand.  But there is a local company that puts the PSU nittany logo on the bags.

Becca, the Penn State ones you get here are small thin pretzels (almost like mini-pretzels), and they have various flavours on them - sour cream, etc. They definitely aren't like the big chunky Snyders pretzels.

The best ones I have found here really are those Morrison's The Best Multi-Seeded Pretzels. They have a good flavour, and they are nice and chunky. I'd recommend those. Might not be as good as Snyders, but they are definitely the best I've found here.

Not the brand you are looking for but Pretzel Petes nuggets are yummy and available in the UK, in various flavours. http://www.pretzelpete.com/default.cfm

Oh okay. yeah, sorry for the confusion...I got confused.

And I'm still trying to track down what company makes the university-logoed ones. We think it might be Utz, not Snyder.

Hello All I found a website that sells SYnder's of Hanover Pretzels!!! It's called http://www.americansweets.co.uk/ I just ordered about 7 bags today! I absolutely love these pretzels. Theres nothing like them. I think they are located in Alder Shot. I thought this would be helpful to anyone who wants to order any.
