hi gang!!!
 ok here it is i am an American who is finishing cooking school in may of 2010 and i would love to work and live in scotlands capital city question how hard  are chef jobs to find and what should i ask for a salary  and how hard is it to finda apartment and my long term goal is to become a briton and become a citzen  how hard is that going to be? so thanks for reading and look to hearing some feed back so talk to me

Unless you are getting your masters, are world renowned  or have a UK spouse it will be very difficult. 

People can do it, but immigration changes that are coming in are making things very hard.

As for becoming a citizen, that is also changing radically.  We aren't sure what the final hurdles will be, but it looks like it will be a long hard slog.

Without a Masters Degree you won't qualify for a Tier 1 visa.

If your profession is on the shortage list AND you can find an employer to sponsor you you may qualify for a Tier 2.

Other than that, your only other option is having a UK Spouse or going back to University in the UK under the Tier 4.
