HAHAHA!  Yes I totally agree, my fiance, the first time I heard him say "fah-heeeee-taaaah"...I literally died laughing for about an hour!  He plans to take me to this mexican restuarant he and his mates frequent near his home.  Its called Chiquitos...he swears up and down its delicious.  However when he visited in August, I took him to Herreras..if your from dallas you prob know of it...he quickly changed his tune on Chiquitos lol.

Im very curious to try his so called mexican food when I arrive next week.  Guess I cant expect authentic tex-mex  ;D

Mmmm... Herrera's! I miss the super strong house margaritas and mole enchiladas at Cantina Laredo, too. And I think I would die and go to heaven if I had some real tacos and tres leches cake from La Parillada. And even though it isn't a Mexican restaurant, Houston's has the best tortilla soup in the history of the universe. I wouldn't suggest having it before you move here, because then it will be all you think about.  :)

Hiya! Ex Texan/Okie here as well!!! ;D

When ever we visit my sister in Houston (she lives in Copperfield) they take us to La Hacienda..and they do a stuffed deep fried avacado with cheese sauce on it..hubby loves this...

But I loved their cheese enchiladas...
MMM

I ate at the Texas Embassy a week ago today...I was pretty good! The salsa had a bit too much Cumin in it for me but the whole meal was pretty tasty.

Also ate at Bodean's (now with 5 locations) near the Tower of London..that was excellent! Good BBQ for London.

I took him to the Herreras near Inwood & Cedar Springs..I love my tex-mex so that will be missed. OMG and BBQ, totally didnt even think about that...nothing better than texas BBQ!

I think more than anything the lifestyle is going to take awhile for me to adjust too.  Alan kept saying how "slow-paced" everything in Dallas was compared to London.  Also how everyone is so nice here, but I disagree not everyone in Texas is nice  ;D  Just like anywhere you come across your rude people you know.

Oh and not having a car, and not driving everywhere...thats going to be wierd for me.  But I am hoping all this walking will help me loose some extra pounds...**wishful thinking**.

Well, I gained a some weight at first trying all the new chocolate bars and snacks and stuff. Once I got over that, though, I have been losing weight - not from walking, but from cooking at home instead of going out to eat all the time. There aren't many places to eat in our little village in the country, which has sort of helped me control my weight, but I guess that won't be to your advantage in London, especially if you like Indian food.  :)

But, without Taco Bell, Taco Bueno, Taco Cabana, Chick Fil A, Whataburger, Braums, Sonic, and most of the other fast food options, plus all the walking, I'm sure you will lose some weight! (Unless you just hang around McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, or Burger King all day... lol).

Don't forget Chipotle! Apparently they have one in London, but I bet it won't taste the same :p

miracles happen!  ;)

I'm not a Texan, but my mom, dad & sister all live in Amarillo, so whenever I go back to visit them, that's where i go.  Nice Mex / Tex-Mex there, but I don't really 'miss' it, cos I make my own!  Luckily, living in the central belt of Scotland, we have 2 Lupe Pintos locations, so no shortage of proper ingredients!

Oh, yeah. My colleagues keep telling me to try Bodean's, as it's supposed to be "American" style BBQ. Went to a music festival over the weekend where I had the most amazing BBQ baby back ribs. They were as good as anything I ever had in Texas. I'm anxious to try out Bodean's, as good BBQ obviously can be done.

It was pretty good.
I had the burnt ends that was a bit of a let down. Was expecting the dry crispy end bits...and it came all smothered in sauce. Tasty but when you have your hopes up for something...sigh...

the baked beans were good..........cole slaw..meh...

Awesome thread :D.  I just found out we'll be moving for certain (no time table yet, probably December / January).   Poor England.  It looks like we're trying to take over ... one Texan at a time.
