Hi! I'm from Fort Worth, and i've been in Brighton for almost a year now. I'm getting homesick and going a little stir crazy. Things are so much more liberal here, but people seem to think that Texas is awful and its really not. Its just where you are and the company that you keep. The weather is a lot better here, theres no 108 degree days lol. I do miss all the stores like Target though and I get so excited when I see something about Texas on tv and I recently found American magazines. I don't know if i'll ever get used to driving on the wrong side of the road lol. I'm dreading learning to drive here and driving a stick. Was that really hard for anyone, is it that different or am I just freaking out for nothing? I'm desperate to find other Americans to meet up with here so I don't feel so far away from home.

I also miss mexican food, i'm a vegan so I couldn't go to many restaurants to eat it. But I could always find the ingredients to just make a vegan version of what I wanted. I tried to make stuff here and its just not the same, especially the corn tortillas or flour tortillas. The store bought ones are so different, but I found a website called americansweets.com that has a ton of stuff including rotel. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I found it lol, i'm sorry if i'm mentioning something that someone else has. I was just so excited to find people from Texas that I just started typing.

The driving isn't too bad. Once you get started with your lessons, you will build some confidence. I'm going through it now, and it isn't too bad. I've really made some progress! I have my driving test scheduled for the 17th, so hopefully all will go well. Hang in there!
