Converting luggage from 'non rolling' to rolling
« on: September 14, 2009, 09:58:01 PM »
Hi,

I believe this is the correct forum to post this in --- if not my apologies.  I have an x-large duffel bag I purchased last year.  Is there a device that I can buy to convert it to a rolling duffel bag?  Is there even a device for this?  Thanks.

I don't know if there are things to convert to rolling but when I taught school I used a luggage dolly to move my books room to room.  Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for your response -- I never heard of a luggage dolly.  I'll have to look it up, thanks!

If you should happen to own, or plan to own, one of those shopping "buggy" things seen often around the UK, that people use to bring home their groceries locally when use of a car is not available, you can usually slip the bag part off the dolly part and use that, too, as a dolly to wheel things around. I do that a lot with mine, even used it to dolly my boxes when I moved house here.

Edited to add: the only catch is, I don't know what you would do with the dolly if checking the large duffel into cargo. Check that in too I guess? Have the duffel strapped firmly to the dolly so that they are in effect of one piece?

I've used one of these and it is really great.  It folds up small enough to carry inside a shopping bag, backpack or large handbag.  I used mine for carrying my iMac with me when I flew.
