Trips to the continent with a dog
« on: September 17, 2009, 01:07:27 AM »
Hi all,

We're looking for people with experience traveling to/from Europe with dogs.

Specifically we're planning on crossing via the channel tunnel train.

Our dog entered the UK on PETS. Is still current. Has an EU pet passport. We're planning to get the tick/tapeworm treatment about a day before our return.

Any pitfalls, anecdotes, experiences that you can share would be much appreciated. Was just out to visit DEFRA's site, and do some research but it is down for maintenance. Guess that's what I get for being online this late.

Thanks!
Peter

Depending on where you are going on the continent, heartworms and other arthropod borne diseases (like Leishmania) are common - so keep your pup on heartworm prevention and tick treatments when abroad!!
