Couch surfing

Couchsurfing.org I searched but didn't come up with anything. Anyone have any experience or anyone signed up for this site? IT looks exciting, intriguing and little scary.

I have no personal experience, but I'm thinking of signing up as a host.  Matt Gross, who writes the NYT Frugal Traveler column, is very taken with Couchsurfing.  You may want to check out the articles he has written.

Hi! I have experience with couchsurfing. I surfed all throughout New Zealand and Australia. I think it is absolutely the most amazing thing ever. I think it is actually www.couchsurfing.com.  Everyone has a profile on there and once you've hosted or surfed, you leave a "reference" for that person so that future hosts or surfers know more about you and how people think of you, etc. You can also just sign up to show people around or meet up for coffee/drink. I want to give back to all of those who helped me along the way when I was a poor backpacker. It has the whole "pay it forward" feel. You should really check it out and get involved. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.
Follow your bliss.
