Last weekend, Tin and I (and all our most important others) walked from Painswick to Slad, in the Cotswolds, and back again. Slad was the hometown of the writer, Laurie Lee (1914-1997), who wrote
Cider with Rosie and other books. We spied what was his house there, where he grew up, which is still just a private home now - so although we wanted to go up & peer in the windows, we didn't. And we had a drink in what had been his local.
Today, DH and I did a walk close to home that ended at a pub, one of those purported to be the oldest in England: the Bingley Arms in Bardsey, West Yorkshire. After doing a bit a t'internet research, there are lists of various pubs out there - seems the oldest proven one is 'Ye Olde Fighting Cocks' in St Albans, quite possibly followed by the Bingley Arms.
Steve and I did a bit of walking on the Southwest Coastal Path when we were on holiday in Cornwall recently - beautiful views, but gaaaaah - it was hard walking, for me. My fitness is way down from a couple years ago. So we're starting to work & build it back up again.
Here are some of his photos from the Southwest Coastal Path:

ETA: Oh yeah, and have decided I need new boots, again! Well this was all so new to me & I never realised your boots are actually supposed to be about a size bigger than what your ordinary shoe size usually is. So although my boots are in my size and fit fine for a shoe, my toes keep jamming at the end on any sort of downhill...and after our whole Welsh mountain climbing disaster last August bank holiday, my big toenails are finally growing in again all nice & pink & healthy...so new boots (ouch!) it'll be, I think.
