Looks like fun!  We should make plans to walk soon!  I'm getting far too fat and lazy, plus I'm not good with directions.   :P

We will!  I forgot to tell you today that we are walking tomorrow/Saturday (because it looks like the weather will be better for it).  Hoping for some good Sunday weather next weekend maybe & we can plan a walk together?  :)

PS - You're not fat & lazy.

Our ramble (5.8 miles in total by the end) didn't go quite as planned yesterday, but we still had a lovely walk all the same & there was sunshine by the afternoon!  At the mid-way point, where we were to walk off across some fields & drumlins - it said to first 'cross a stream'...except the stream was quite in flood & there wasn't any footbridge.  DH said - well ok, he thought he could leap from one side to other...it would have been quite a leap.  Except that DH is tiny around & it would be like flying over it for him.  For me, it would have been flopping down into the water.  :P

So we decided the sensible thing was to retrace our steps a bit, then followed a slightly altered path back to the start point - ended up being nice, because we walked a piece of the Leeds-Liverpool canal, near Skipton.  Plus, there were horses along our walk & DH got stared down by a kestrel on a telegraph pole!  (At least it didn't come at him like the buzzard did in 2008!)

We had a similar problem back at New Year's time with a walk we wanted to do then - where the walk had us crossing a 'beck'...that was more like an icy cold river at that time, and there was snow & ice & all kinds of fun!  We didn't do that either.  :)

Oh yeah - good thing we got the walk in yesterday, the weather was great for it & it's miserable out today!

Further to this - it wasn't just a leap...it was a running, flying leap that would have been required!  Except in my case, it would likely have involved stumbling down the bank, losing my footing in the bog, falling into the mud & then rolling into the creek before I ever got a chance to leap...kersplash!  Cos that's just how I roll!  :-[

We usually walk on Sunday afternoons too, but chose Saturday this weekend for the same reason you did.

My husband and I went out and it was a beautiful sunny afternoon but we didn't get very far because there were snowdrops.  We kept having to stop and take pictures of them.  Not much walking was accomplished but we had fun.  :)  And snowdrops mean that spring is on its way!

Yes!  We saw snowdrops on Saturday too, but perhaps not as many as the Busbys did.  I forgot about that in the excitement about leaping over streams & the kestrel.  Last week, we also had one wee little snowdrop in our garden, plus our daffodils & tulips are starting to sprout up too.

Yay spring!!!  ;D

We did a 5.5 mile walk today - just here in town & along the canal towpath & back.  DH was pushing for an 8-miler at Barwick in Elmet - but we didn't really get an early enough start for that.  The weather is 'supposed' to be nicer next Sunday - fingers crossed it holds true!  (in which case, I'll be walking 8 miles then  :P)

I will keep my fingers crossed for you for warmer weather!!!

J and I did a beach ramble last night - a mile or so, nothing big - but after pulling out weeds and pickers and brambles and thistles yesterday for several hours before that-  that's all we could handle!

Today, we did another easy ramble, a bit around Loch Garten and around the RSPB Osprey Centre- the Osprey's obviously aren't in, but there were loads of feeders - and J was very happy to get a Crested Tit picture- quite a rare bird!

We then went walking about Fort George- one end to the other in a circumference is 1 mile and we did two laps  :)

So a good walking/rambling weekend  :)

8 mile ramble didn't happen today - bad timing for me.  :-X  Plus the forecasters seemed to have got it wrong for the weekend - originally looked like Sunday was going to be the better weather day, over Saturday.  And it was just the opposite here - Saturday would have been better.

One thing & another - I saw the dark clouds gathering & didn't feel that great, so I wussed out.  It'll happen another weekend though.  :)

We went for a walk around Rockingham Forest in Northamptonshire and saw five Red Kites.  The day started off terribly but turned out quite nice.

Aside from the mud, some of which was shin deep.

We got suckered in by the GLORIOUS weather we woke up to yesterday morning. I checked accuweather.com and they predicted cloudy with a bit of rain around 15:00. So we drove out to Henley-on-Thames to try a 10 mile circular walk from our new Time Out Country Walks book. By the time we reached Henley it was raining lightly, but I insisted it would blow over since accuweather said so.  ::)

When we stopped for lunch in Hambledon, about 1/3 of the way into the walk, it was really coming down. Miraculously, when we were leaving the pub it cleared briefly, but eventually went right back to raining. Since we had somewhere to be in the evening, and the rain and mud were slowing us down, we just went back the way we came. I'm guessing we did 6-7 miles in total and despite the rain, we did have a nice day. I'll never trust accuweather again though!

My poor book went from new to waterlogged in one short afternoon. Oh well!

That's a shame it rained Courtney, because there are some lovely parts around Henley. It sounds like you made the most of it and enjoyed yourselves anyway.  :)

We had a great day despite the rain lol. I slept so well that night!

We do get out to that area a lot as it's an easy drive for us so I am sure we will do the whole circular one day.  :)
