Glad you mentioned it, because Tin was asking me about poles a couple weeks ago (her knees hurt sometimes) and I said I thought she ought to get some poles for that.  I have been walking using one pole for awhile now, but have been thinking it would be much better to have two, rather than just the one.

Maybe this would make things easier for me.....hmmmm

I do find my walking pole very useful for stability (two would be better), and also you can poke at something first with them if you're not sure if it's going to be solid - like a bog hole or a wobbly-looking rock or something.  The pole(s) steps down before you do.  Plus I do think it's easier on your knees like bookgrl said.

Also good for wacking people with if you happened to have gone the wrong way for the past hour.  Not that I have experience with this.  ;D

WHAT?!  I'm so not getting tagged with this one.  I'm pretty sure I learned this one from you poking your dh with your stick.  ;D   :P   ;)

Besides the walking helps us take out our aggression.   ;)

I think you must have been hallucinating with hunger or dehydration or something...  [smiley=lipsrsealed2.gif]  (too long between pints of cider?)

Ladies please!  Isn't there some sort of moral decorum on this forum?  Oh wait, sorry, I forgot who I was talking to.  :P   ;)

I got mine when I worked for the AMC and got pro-deals.

I've been using two poles since I was 24.  There's no shame.   :)

They are also good for fording streams and for beating bushes to scare away bears.  Or at least you hope they would scare them away.

Also, you can use them to pick up leaves while walking, if you are bored.
