Jamie Olivers America Cookbook
« on: September 25, 2009, 07:08:58 PM »
Well the bookman came around to my office this week and he had this for a tenner, I couldn't resist and I bought it. And wow, does it have some fantastic recipes. What I really like about it is that there are all kinds of recipes with British substitutions. I am going to try cooking some of the recipes, but I highly recommend it. His recipes look super easy, and it was only £10 from the Book People.

I can't wait to get cooking!!!

We've been watching the series on the BBC-iplayer.  It's really good, not just from a food perspective, but from a cultural perspective.  We got the book for hubby's brother's b-day, and I've been inspired to try making a vegetarian version of gumbo.

I got this, and it is fantastic.  I got it on Amazon for £10.00, but it is worth the full price.  I love Jamie!

Thanks for the recommendation, will have to look into the book a bit more.  May just bump me up enough to get free delivery from the book people!   ;D

I couldn't find it on Book People, but Amazon still has it for £9.99.

I'm this close to ordering Willie Harcourt-Cooze's chocolate cookbook, though!

He uses pure 100% chocolate - so not all the dishes are sweet and/or naughty!

Oh, god, no!  He is such an overblown twat ponce!

He is living proof of the old adage:  it's who you know . . .

I really don't like Jamie Oliver's personality, I know some do, but I just can't stand his cheeky chappie BS...BUT...I love this book! Thanks for the recommendation racheee, I probably would have passed over it in the bookstore but I thought I'd check it out and I'm really glad I did.

The photography is brilliant and the recipes look great, I've seen loads of things in it which I want to cook, and quite a few low carb or low carb adaptable things.

yay!

Sorry, but I really love him. And his chocolate is to die for! I heard him speak at the Hay Festival back in May and he was fab. He and his whole family were there and they were all lovely. And he was very generous with the free samples, which is always helpful!

A friend of mine knows him, too.  Well, her husband went to school with him.  They call him Willy W*nker.   ;D

Point of interest, however, his wife, of course, is a baron's daughter.  But she's also the star of George Michael's 'Father Figure' vid from the 80s!

I haven't bought the book but the Sunday Times magazine printed a few select recipes and we tried the Jambalaya. Yum yum yum..
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.

My husband would totally agree with this...

However, my sister is totally in love with Jaime. So when the Book People came around his work I did tell him to pick up a copy for her.  Great Xmas present.

But if the book is that good, maybe I should get one and stash it somewhere in the kitchen.... hahahaha.
