Difference between a Debit card and a Cashline card??
« on: October 06, 2009, 10:11:46 AM »
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this.

I just opened my bank account at RBS last Wednesday.  I got a Key Account and also a basic Savings Account that I can't recall the name of.

Yesterday I received two letters in the post. One was for a pin for a Debit card which I am assuming will be for my Key Account.  The other is a pin for a Cashline card, which I was not expecting to have and I have no idea what it is.  Is it a card for my savings account?

I haven't received the info for my account numbers or the cards themselves yet, since RBS sends everything separately.  I was planning to go to a branch and ask them once I get all of my account info but I was hoping someone here might know.

Thanks!

We bank with Barclay's so I don't have any info for you but here's the page from RBS that describes their different debit cards & cashline cards: http://www.rbs.co.uk/personal/current-accounts/g2/debit-cards/your-card.ashx.

Hope it helps.

Thanks!  I was all over their site last night trying to find some kind of explanation, but to no avail.  I must have looked right over that page.

So, I guess I essentially have an extra card to take cash out with.  Hopefully the other letters I'm waiting for will give me more explanation than the ones I received yesterday.

Just adding this in case anyone finds themselves in the same position at some point.

The cashline card was indeed for my savings account.  It's only for taking money out at the ATM.
