Amazing bread machine recipe
« on: October 06, 2009, 02:48:33 PM »
For those of you with bread machines, try this recipe!!

We found it while looking for dairy and egg free recipes for Sammy.

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Best-Bread-Machine-Bread/Detail.aspx

It even has a British conversion in the footnotes.

Read though the reviews, too. Some people have some issues with over-rising so they add extra salt. We didn't add the salt, but did have it hit the top of the bread machine. So we finished it off in the oven. But, OMG, this bread is Soooooooooooo good!

Also, make sure you do follow the directions for mixing. Unlike most bread machine recipes, you add the wet ingredients first.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Hey thanks! We tried this last night and it's definitely s keeper. My fiancé is really picky with bread machine bread but the insides were really fluffy like French bread and the crust was super flakey, like a pastry and unlike any we've had from the machine before. The only disadvantage is that you can't use the timer function since you mix the water and yeast first!

Oh, I'm so glad you tried it! We were really impressed. I think we'll make another load today!

I use a recipe exactly like that, well, the only difference is I use a quarter cup of sugar, instead of two tablespoons. It makes the BEST pizza dough.
