My DF is a vegetarian, and I have found it to be VERY easy to find foods for him...even ones that I, as a die-hard carnivore, enjoy.
As mentioned by others, there are a great deal of products (I really like Quorn) and there are a LOT of great places to eat. We eat at Henderson's in Edinburgh quite a bit and really like it.
The coolest thing, however, is that many (if not MOST) of the products out there have a stylized V on the package somewhere to alert you to the fact that it is vegie-friendly. You will generally find the V in the corner of the front side of the package...take a look and you'll see what I mean.
If the rest of the EU and the States would get on board with such a GREAT idea, I'm sure that there would be a few more people willing to go meat-free.
Good luck finding what you need, and remember that there are some terrific websites out there with yummy veggie recipes.
