We were practically neihbors then! I'm also from the bay area by way of the south bay (have lived in Sunnyvale, Los Gatos, Campbell, you get the idea!) How is it dealing with much less sun? ???

Thank you all for such a nice welcome!  :)

Well, the fog in both SF and Santa Cruz prepared me for a less than stellar summer, but I worked in Bonny Doon (in the SC mountains) last summer where it was always warm and sunny. So it's been... erm... different.  :D Honestly, I love seeing the seasons - but not in the extreme. So last Autumn the leaves turned and fell and there was a nip in the air, then it snowed a tiny bit in the winter, it was fun seeing the dafodils and the blue bells and finally the poppies springing up in the Spring, and then the summer has been... well to be honest, awful  ;) . The humidity has been a pretty big shock to my system and it really hasn't been much over about 75 on a good day. It's been nice the last few days though, so I still have hope!!

Anyway, welcome neighbour! Where are you planning to move in the UK?

Yes, I can see how SF and Santa Cruz fog would be prepare you a lil more than all the time sunshine would. As for where I'm planning on moving.... Sigh... the whole moving thing is all dependent on getting a job in the UK and I know that is VERY difficult for a US citizen. (I'm in high tech marketing, and I know they have plenty of natives to fill those jobs!)  :(  So trying to get a job is challenging to put it mildly! IF I am ever able to find a job, the idea would be to move to the southern part of England (preferablly somewhat close to London, but not in) as its my understanding that the south of England has a mini-Silicon Valley area! We shall see! :)
Cheers to you!
Pibear
