desperately seeking: mellocreme pumpkins or autumn mix
« on: October 20, 2009, 11:25:00 PM »
I know this is probably a long shot, but what with the postal strikes, my general lack of organisation and the fact that I haven't been back to the US since last October, I've hit a dead end in my quest for mellocreme pumpkins - which means that the Halloween craft session I'm doing with the kids at the library next week, which relies heavily on candy corn and those stupid pumpkins, is going to be a total bust.  :(  Does anyone have a bag of these sitting around, or know where I can find any?  I've checked skyco, cybercandy, americansweets, candypirate and half a dozen other import sites, and the ones that DID have them are out of stock.  There's nothing to be found on ebay and there's no way that my mom can post me a box and get it here by next Thursday!!  Help!!

Don't have any mellocreme pumpkins, but I do have a package jack-o-lantern peeps that have been sitting in my cupboard since last year. They still seem fine since the package was never opened (I don't think these things really go bad). I'd be happy to send them to you if they would be of any use.

Dude, you're awesome. :D  We're making graveyard dirt pies (choc pudding with oreo crumbs, cookie gravestones and gummy worms and the works) and the kids have been clamouring for the mellocreme pumpkins for the last year, since LAST year's craft session, but I bet I can stave them off for a while with the peeps. I'll PM you my address!

Anyone else have any halloween candy lurking in the dark recesses of their kitchen cupboards? ;D

No problem! I'm happy you can use them since otherwise they would be going in the bin. I reach my yearly Peep quota at Easter  ;)

I know someone coming back from Houston early next week and they did ask what I wanted brought back and I said some of these pumpkins. I'll ask her to get another bag. Whether she'd be back in time to get them down to you, I'm not sure. Say they got back Tuesday then I could post them Wednesday, would they make it for next day? That's assuming she got back then. Either way I'll ask her to grab another bag and either way they won't go to waste.  ;D

These are the little orange pumpkins similar to candy corn taste and texture?? Come in little bags the same as candy corn comes in??

Speaking of these little triangular globules of corn syrup, sugar, flavorings and lord know what else; my mother said she has a box of all these new flavours of candy corn ready for me. I'll maybe see these around xmas. Hey, she's busy for a 74 yo working 6 days a week.   :o

Peeps can go hardish, not sure how long it takes. But they're still Peeps. I still got a few packs left from when we were across at Easter. I was leaving on the last day and Walgreen's had a trolley full of all sorts of peeps, the 8-piece packs were like 15-cents. Whoa there sailor! 15 little Honest Abes? How could I pass up a bargain like this? I emptied that trolley at the amazement of the other shoppers and proceded to the till. Not one person enquired of my accent, they kinda gave me a wide berth. But I really wanted someone to ask. Ask something ffs! It was real quiet, ya know Walgreen's 10 PM, there can be people about but it's a quiet place. Felt like ages as she scanned them all. Honest, I'm not really a pig nor some teenager with the munchies, I just ain't had these little bunnies in a loong time and this is a stockpile. Gave my mother something laugh about when I came out with 4 bag considering I only went in for a pack of smokes.

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

AyouBob, that would be awesome - thanks so much!!  Those are the ones, yeah - the addictive little orange pumpkins. Check out the photo below to see the results of last year's pie-making session.

Anyway - sorry I haven't posted until now - I've managed to catch flu (AGAIN) and have been laid up in bed with chills and fever for the past few days.  If your friend could grab two bags, that'd be even better!  If you need to post them overnight or special delivery to get them here by Thursday morning then I'll be glad to pay you for postage...I'll PM you with my address!

I sent them an email request but never had confirmation. And I just spoke to them a few minutes ago and totally forgot to ask.  They are flying back today and I should see them on Monday night. I'll let you know then. Hopefully we got at least one.

Hope your flu's better by then.

Thanks, y'all!  Am dosed to the gills and taking things verrrry easy today...not that it seems to be making any real difference!

Andee, hope you're feeling better soon, too!  Seems like everyone's sick at the moment!
