I know what you mean about just popping out and singing. I do it. Heck when J. and I just chatted by typing I would break out into song by typing, now how lame is that. I also have been known to sing while working, while driving oh and head banging to Queen's bohemian rahpsody, unsure of spelling, lol. My nephews just laugh. And I have a song for nearly everything my J brings up. Like that song- thats life. OOOOO I just got to sing. look it up if your unsure, frank sinatra i believe.

Singing it makes you happy inside even when your not so happy.
annie- I- O-D-E-N-T, doo do ddodoodo dododo, lol!

Leave the white back-to-front coat behind when you come across. You'll fit in nicely.  ;D
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

I doubt I can drag my man to one! Maybe we should go to one together since both our guys are haters!

I love musicals personally.  I've seen Cats and The Lion King live, and ohers on DvD such as Sweeny Todd, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors etc etc.

Musicals have been a huge part of my life since I was little. Growing up just a train ride away from NYC made going to the theatre easy...plus, Julie Andrews is my hero. I've even watched the Eloise movies because she was in them. I've also been in about 10 shows throughout my life. Tim's not a big musical person, but he humours me and we've seen 2 shoes in the West End, and he'll listen to Elane Paige's show on Radio 2 with me if it's on while we're in the car.

Favourites -

My Fair Lady
Sound of Music
Singing in the Rain
The Music Man
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Miss Saigon

Good to know! When you get to Lincs will have to try and find a show near by.

I'm a big musicals fan... I think I've seen more live than I have on TV/DVD/video (I usually prefer stage versions over film versions) :P.

My favourite live show so far was The Lion King (saw it on Broadway for my 21st) and the most recent was We Will Rock You in Bristol a couple of weeks ago, which was pretty good (had some amazing singers, although I was surprised to find out afterwards that the cast included a girl from the ITV show Britannia High, an old X Factor contestant (from Shane Ward's year) and the guy who played Curly Watts in Coronation Street).

I have been introduced to quite a few musicals by the local Dinner Playhouse near my aunt's house in Arkansas - we go there every time we visit and the shows are always wonderful - so far, we've seen Oliver!, My Fair Lady, Singing in the Rain, The Pajama Game, Guys and Dolls, Kiss Me Kate and Fiddler on the Roof.

Others that I've seen live (either in Bristol, London or when I was living in the US) are Chicago, Les Miserables, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (twice - once in 1993 (with Philip Schofield as Joseph) and once in 2008 with Craig and Keith from the BBC Joseph show), We Will Rock You, The King and I, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Salad Days, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, Grease, Fame 2000 (not a good show!), Brigadoon, West Side Story, Sunset Boulevard, Gypsy, Me and My Girl, Oh! What A Lovely War, Once Upon a Mattress, HMS Pinafore... and I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting too :P.

LOVE them. I'm kinda picky though - I'm not wild about the Andrew Lloyd Webber type ones. But I loved Avenue Q and We Will Rock You.... Weirdly, DH (who likes to think he's a Manly Man) loves them to. To the point that he'd far prefer to see a musical than a play (which can be annoying sometimes - I'd like to mix it up a bit).

Love. I was in shows in college and directed and choreographed many. I met one of my college boyfriends via our love of musicals (he was the lead in one I was choreographing) and I credit him with taking this interest to a new level.

I can't even count how many I've seen live in Chicago, on Broadway, in the West End, and in other theaters.  But the very first one my parents took me to was "Hello Dolly", which my cousin was in at her high school. And the first professional show I saw was "Into the Woods", which remains one if my favorites, as it was also the first show I was in.

Despite my hatred for them, I  have seen quite a few. Chicago and Hairspray, and a hilarious one called "the pirate queen" which lasted about 4 days on broadway and a couple in the west end.

All were pretty hideous, but Chicago was surely the worst as it was just so awkward as this guy I was dating had arranged for me to go backstage and meet brooke shields and a couple of other people that were in the show, so I was like hanging out in Roxie's dressing room trying to be polite, when I'd just spent the last two hours wishing I could tear my ears out - me and the bloke broke up soon after!

If anyone wants a signed Chicago playbill, booklet etc I have one!

Last musical I saw was Phantom of the Opera...seen it three times, but my absolute best Is Pal Joey which I have seen several adaptations of, but my favorite is the movie version with Frank Sinatra and Rita Haywood. I could watch this
scene a zillion times and not tire of it.

The shows I've seen are endless but it's the song's from a lot of the old time musicals with scores written by the likes of Gershwin, Hammerstien, Jerome Kern etc that I blast out and sing along to.

Love. Love. Although I must admit a preference for a classic musical (My Fair Lady, Singing in the Rain) or Sondheim over a Lloyd Webber -esque production.

I tend to prefer the oldies as well (Rogers and Hammerstein, Gershwin, etc), but despite the cheese factor - I do have a soft spot in my heart for ALW's Phantom of the Opera and Cats, purely for personally reminiscent, sentimental reasons.  :)

Love em. Grew up with them. Currently listening to the broadway channel on Sirius. :)  Seen everything there is to see.....  I have fond memories of Richard Burton revival in Camelot and Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady..and the original Phantom cast.

Wicked is currently my favourite and I love the soundtrack.   :D
