I watched the first episode on iplayer last night.  I love it!  With the mom and son team, I couldn't understand why she didn't say anything.  He was obviously bombing and he kept looking over to her and she just didn't say a thing.  Is only one person allowed to speak?

That first round is different from how it'll work from here on out, so I'm not sure what the rules were. It did seem as though one person had to cook and the other had to present the dish and concept, though.

The son was a prat who didn't know his a$$ from his elbow.  Even if the mother had been allowed to talk, she couldn't have saved him.

I was literally cringing when the son opened his mouth to speak. Can't wait for tonight's episode!  ;D

So? What did people think??

I thought the idiot blond boys were just as bad as the couple that got booted ... however, I'm kind of glad they're still in. I have a feeling they're going to make for some really good train wreck viewing.

I *must* go download this show! I miss it!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Definitely agree.  The Australian guy is so arrogant I feel like he should annoy the heck out of me but for some reason he doesn't.  I felt bad for the couple that lost, though, especially the husband.  He was trying so hard.

If my waiter ever got that overly-familiar and in-your-face with me, I'd be annoyed. They kept talking about his great personality and about how much the customers loved him ... do people really like that??

I'm with you, but lots of people actually do like that sort of thing.  I used to work with someone   like that and customers just thought he was wonderful.  I had chalked it up to the Californian habit of being instantly familiar with strangers, but perhaps it's cross-cultural?

Agree.  I had a feeling that's exactly *why* they are still in.

That's why I was sort of secretly hoping they'd keep the coconut ladies in, but sadly it didn't happen.

Coconut ladies = danger!  Not safe!  I thought it was hilarious that it was all about the mother--her black flippy hair and bewitching smile--ha!

Finally got caught up last night on I-Player.  Except I must confess I fell asleep in the second episode around the time they started evening service in the restaurants.  :P

The coconut women on epi 1!  ::)  I'm wondering what bank that daughter works (or worked) in?!  How can she show her face again there?  Opening a can with a knife?  WTF?!

(Why is it the entrants from Yorkshire are always the biggest freaks?!  Raymond supposedly loves Leeds so surely they could find some serious contenders from up here?  ???)

And the winkers - lol!

Winkers....I had to look at that word twice.  ;)  I think they kept the two blonde boys in for a bit of eye candy, although they do nothing for me. And as for the team which went home, I was a bit suprised when they showed the guy downing a pint in what looked to be the middle of service as well. To be honest I couldn't understand why everyone started clapping after he shouted for everyone's attention to tell them they were closing. It just didn't seem to be very professional at all.  :-\\\\

I was really surprised he kept the blonde guys on!  :o

I don't know about anyone else - but I'm feeling a bit 'meh' about the third series.  It's getting to be much of a muchness, and I'm wondering if maybe the programme concept has sort of run its course?
