Weird Xrays & Kids doing crazy things
« on: October 25, 2009, 07:24:52 AM »
November 8th start Radiology Tech Week. A few of us mainly those who supposedly have no lives or work night, are having to find case studies 3 studies a day for 5 days straight. Ive found over 10 but Im having trouble getting hold of a few since patients can check out films.

Anyways I found one very interesting case. A little kid that swallowed a BARBIE DOLL SHOE! It happens I know. I remember when I was 5 I stuck a tic tac in my ear. My parents discussed who wouldnt be taking me to the ER. Lets just say the Base Docs said I had the freshest smelling ear.  lol  ;D

Oh and to AyouBob not trying to prove your theory but I also did get hit in the head when I was 3 or 4.  :P
I was chasing my doggie and well mom was cleaning and didnt see me. I do remember a shot in the bum and me sing abcs.

I shoved a nut up my nose when I was 5 and had to go the ER to get it out. It was a nut for a bolt, like one of the smooth semi-circular ones, not the kind you eat. I remember sitting in the back seat of the car, thinking how smooth that little nut was and running my finger over it, then wondering if it would fit in my nose. Guess I had to find out! I remember my dad laughing his butt off while driving to the ER while my mom was screaming "It's not funny!" because she couldn't get it out with a pair of tweezers.  I was screaming my head off, of course, and clawing at my face trying to get it out.  Even the doctor who removed it had a laugh.  ;D

Freshest smelling ear? Too funny. Just as well you weren't playing with hot tomales, bring a different meaning to 'one's ears are burning'.

And Jewlz your story reminds me of Cheech&Chong's skit 'everything up hees nose'

Like I said, you'll fit in nicely 'ear!  ::)

Your post reminds me of a website that's out there somewhere about unusual objects that people stuck up their other ends.  :-X

Jewlz the way you described that bolt was DEVINE ;D, even better thinking of how you were going to put it up your nose. :D

Oh no need for that site Mrs. Robinson, I have many ER stories, to include batteries, toys/adult ones, etc. etc. etc.

The best though is the stories of how they got there!

Bob - just google Images of 'rectal foreign bodies' if you're that interested!  :P

An interesting site with a 'Medical Imaging' section:

http://streetanatomy.com/category/medical-imaging/

(don't worry - nothing initially untoward there - I thought the high heel image was interesting)

The best though is the stories of how they got there!

I can imagine!  Especially since most of them likely got there the exact same way!  :-X

You think it took an interesting turn, think about the interesting excuses in ER.

Im going to bust a gut if you guys aren't careful. AyouBob you were right on with that example of an excuse. I had a guy come in and said he fell on his pill bottle, yea right. I have to ask you see my radiologist wants to know WHY.

I do like asking, hehe, let them squirm...

Repeats you ask? Jeez would you go to the same hospital with the same prob more than once? I don't think so.... I've even been told about an incident of a certain adult toy being inserted in a certain posterior hole and  wooooshhhh vanished.... And this person traveled all the way from Alabama to a HOLE, no pun intended, in the wall of a hospital just to have it removed. All I can say is at least the hubby came in support, after all he was the one who inserted it.......

Again repeat, me dont think sooooooooo!!!!!!!!

They must be sitting back these days and laughing about that one.  But, not to sound dumb as those two, but couldn't they have just let nature take its course?

Repeats. Just wondered. If they're dumb enough to do...then maybe they are dumb enough...

Well, at least it was an actual toy. It's all the other stuff that ISN'T intended to be used for that purpose that must be most embarrassing.
