Working Mothers...just wondering
« on: November 02, 2009, 11:11:38 AM »
I was just wondering how many of us were career mothers who worked outside of the home (because I know that staying at home with kids is a full time job also) I was wondering what your childcare situation was, and how many hours you worked per week and what you do!

I work 4 days a week (9.30 - 5.30) and I feel like its full time. My almost 4 year old is at school half days and a childminder picks him up at lunchtime and he spends the day with her everyday bar Monday. He used to be at a nursery, but this is more convenient for us now. I work in Recruitment Outsourcing for a company in the 2009 Times Top Ten Company to work for.

Anyone else want to play?

I work full time on a 9/80 scheduled (one 5 day week, next is 4 day).  Right now, my son stays home with my husband as he continues to be unemployed. :(  When he was working and I was at a different job, I worked 3 days/ week in the office and one day from home.  He was in an in home day care.  I'm a social worker.

I went back to work as a Playgroup Assistant when Jean was about 8 months old.  She plays with Grandma and Grandad from 8:30 until about 1:00 monday-friday during term time.  Starting next September she'll come to work with me  ;D

Hubby is a stay at home dad and I work. Right now we're working 4 ten hour days, 40 hours a week. I love the 3 day weekend!  I do some insane overtime sometimes, but lately it's not been too bad. I must say I'm so jealous of all the time my husband gets to spend with the kids, I miss so many little things, but at the same time, I'm not sure I'd love staying at home as much as he does. :-\\\\

I'm really lucky and work great hours.  I do five hours a day from when I arrive (circa 9.00 am after dropping little one at school) so get back in time to pick him up.  Also my boss is really good about time off for sports days, class assemblies etc and doesn't even ask me to make the time up!!  A far cry from working v. long hours with horrible travelling when my eldest was little - much less stressful.
